What she said is what many teachers think, and it’s a concept that needs to be destroyed to protect America's children.
Before women’s lib, America’s teachers were often the best and brightest women in a college class because teaching was one of their few career options. Since women’s lib, the women who achieve academically usually choose majors other than teaching. Teachers today tend to fall into two categories: (1) A small number of men and women (usually conservative) with a real passion for education and (2) insecure, narcissistic people who struggle academically and look to a room full of helpless children to validate their ideology and sexuality. Alicia Messing, an Arizona educator, definitely falls in the second category.
Messing came to our attention because she testified before the Arizona Senate Education Committee to protest Arizona bill SB 1700, which will amend Arizona’s existing education laws to give parents the right to review and, through a defined procedure, to seek to remove inappropriate books from libraries and classrooms, especially books that promote non-traditional sexual and gender roles or that normalize pedophilia. Incidentally, as little as twenty years ago, this kind of thing went without saying. Now, thanks to leftist incursions in education, it’s a fight.
And in the frontline of the battle to preserve teachers’ rights to inundate children with inappropriate material stands Alicia Messing, the proud holder of a Masters’s degree in education. Messing believes that this degree gave her superpowers that raised her to a degree of enlightenment that, in her own mind, must go unchallenged, especially by those brutish troglodytes known as parents. She didn’t say that explicitly but she sure said it implicitly:

Home schooled kids always do far better, on average, than kids do in public schools, and public school kids have far more money per pupil.
I’d say public school teachers do far worse, nationally, than unknown educational statuses of parents with cheap materials and no special school building or resources.
This fraud of a teacher is making a case to abolish public schools.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
What is sad is that the school system is STRUCTURED to encourage this type of thought. Get rid of one teacher that ignores the fact that they work for and are employed by the parents, and another teacher union bot will take their place.
I well remember when they were executed by firing squad. It was on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Boy, were they hated…
I here the Bates motel is hiring…
The dumbest person I know is someone who has three PhDs...
What have parents got?
They have children who are NOT YOUR CHILDREN.
Good point, I thought of that later. The parents did have children they provided to give that teacher her job.
“Before women’s lib, America’s teachers were often the best and brightest women in a college class because teaching was one of their few career options.”
Horsehockey. The WSJ investigated college majors for difficulty and the intellectual ability of those enrolled.
Journalism finished 2nd from the bottom.
Education finished at the bottom.
When I was in college in the sixties, a typical education major was making collages instead of studying.
The children, you commie hag.
Yet another reason I homeschool.
What have parents got?
/\
No college loan debt
little miss dumba$$.
Just cuz you got suckered out of thousands for a worthless meaningless “ degree” is no reason to brag.
LOL- but what do parents have??!!!
You’re absolutely right. And “consent of the governed” doesn’t apply in how publicly-financed school board operates.
As my dad used to say (and he was a nuclear engineer) PhD is 💩 Piled Higher and Deeper..
Parents credentials outranks teachers not yours.
“”I’m the guy who got called in when the papered folks couldn’t figure it out.
I have a GED.
Performance counts.””
I taught GED (English & Spanish) to adults for years. All of the adult students were natural born citizens, or legal immigrants. Some were smarter than I, just needed some refreshers in things like test taking techniques. Some of the smartest ones were legal immigrant mothers and grandmothers. I can’t tell you how many times I had to pump up their confidence. They had raised many children, managed a household, budgeting, scheduling, and on and on. Once I pointed out all they knew and had accomplished, they stood a little taller. Many had left school in order that the family kept eating. The GED was their ticket to advancement. Most of the classes were at night, and almost everyone had one or more day jobs.
It was so fun when the Spanish speakers would try to say “how can this gringo (me) know more Spanish (grammer and such) than us?” They had not had formal education, but, of course, spoke perfect Spanish. When this Irish Catholic Gringo (we grew up poor, but nothing like some others) pointed out that they just had not taken the time to analyze, study their own language, but they always knew how to conjugate, etc, they again became more confident. For some, I used my own experience working on cars. I did not know the name of every single thing, but I could fix it and make it run.
Also, most legal immigrants despise the creeps creeping into our country.
We have a pandemic of narcissists.
2 years as opposed to 4.
Some folks are just naturally brilliant.
Jou just gotta step back and admire them.
a teacher should be knowledgeable about her subject matter but most important they should love the children, their job, and the idea of instilling confidence in young children....
what have we got now?....contracts, many days off, setting schedules to fit their whims, disrespecting parents....threatening to close the schools if they don't get more and more money....just sick of them...
I know many teachers, including my sister who is retired, and I can honestly say that ONE of them is truly dedicated and loves what she does...just ONE of all them...
