The democRATs have to know that they are doing this. It seems to be a purposeful destruction of the economy.

The poorer the masses are, the more dependent on government they become, the more power the Democrats accrue, repeat until absolute total control achieved.

Inflation hurts the lowest income tiers the most, right?

I would suggest that they create a problem because they already have ‘solutions’ in mind. More wealth confiscation, of course.

Purposeful. Yes. But the “Progressives” do not care. When this shows up in 2024, election time, they will just blame the Republicans.
We’ve had record federal receipts yet FJB says the Trump tax cuts added $2T in deficits. Sometimes I wish they’d raise taxes sky high and suffer the consequences ala France.

Lying about everything is much easier for radicals. It creates chaos and smoke screens. Why mix in truth?

Karl may be right... but, I don’t see inflation spiking up anytime soon as long as energy prices stay depressed. Natural Gas is back down to decadal lows. Oil prices are trading in a range, but still on the lower side.

It will be interesting to see what happens with oil with the US actually starts re-filling the SPR. Assuming, of course, that Biden will actually do it.

The Dems’ goal is to create near total dependency on government. Every problem, shortage, and crisis in society is an excuse to expand the reach and power of government.

And since liberals run the government it gives them increasingly higher levels of authority over us.

Dems found a way to turn our experiment is self governance into a power trip for themselves.

It has been a very mild winter in the Northeast—this has had a major impact on natural gas prices. I live in a high elevation area of northern CT where we normally are buried in snow this time of year.

This is the first I can ever remember not having to shovel any snow in January—or this far into February.

The natural gas situation is a fluke—and Karl’s overall analysis is valid imho.

not near total, absolute total control - think new TVs that have their cameras always on, where its illegal to not have a TV and illegal to turn it off.

Just like the one that Winston had.

***********

Why should he bother to do it? Nobody seems to care if we deplete the reserves. In yet another favor to Biden the media is pretty much silent about it. Truth be known, most Americans have no idea that the SPR even exists.

WRT oil prices, watch what happens when China’s economic activity gets back on track.

Why worry? The majority Americans aren’t worried about this. They’re not fighting back. On the contrary they keep voting these pieces of $hit in. So I’m at the point that I don’t give a damn anymore. Just look out for yourselves, protect your home, family and make sure you know where to go to get the basic essentials etc. etc.

Here in the border cities we are so fed up with the invasion, but in reality, there is nothing we can do, but continue to look the other way. Our protest means diddley squat to the liberals who control the city. Our voices fall on deaf ears. Those POS representatives continue to open the border gates even wider. Now we’re having thousands and thousands just cross the river nonchalant with luggage in hand and elderly parents that can barely walk cross over to get all the goodies that us Americans cannot. Oh by the way, you do know that Americans on Social Security get as an example $1,500 but illegals that come get $2,500 monthly …ain’t that a slap in the face. There’s nothing we can do ..don’t say vote them out cause that don’t work…our government has failed us they don’t give a $hit the GREAT RESET is upon us.

Unfortunately, Americans don’t have the stomach to fight it. If we did, we would’ve seen thousands of Texans guarding the borders and they’re not. Complacency is killing us. I’m at the point that my prayer everyday is God please have mercy on this nation for the sake of Your remnant.

Yeah, this sentence:

The days of "hide the sausage" fiscal policy irrevocably ended with the Ukraine/Russia conflict as a direct result of our, and Europe's, sanctioning actions.

is not only poorly written, at least when it comes to the latest oil and refined products transport sanctions, it has it backwards. THOSE sanctions are helping hold oil, refined products, and arguably even gas prices down.

Earlier sanctions probably are still having an inflationary effect, but most of the pressure is coming from over-spending / too much economic stimulus, high debt levels, and so on.

When it comes to the prices most people pay for basic items / necessities outside of gasoline, inflation is continuing to run at a high level, but, I agree "spiking" would be the wrong description. Small comfort.

Yes... I know it's been mild. But, just this week I was speaking with some mid-stream executives and asking about this. They said drilling activity had been shifting to areas with high gas yields. They're intentionally drilling for more gas, and expecting to be able to export it to Europe at higher prices.

Right now, our export terminals are struggling to keep up. That, and the very mild winter, is causing a local glut.

Mostly agreed, but,

when China’s economic activity gets back on track.

is an interesting question.

Economic activity rarely responds well to increased authoritarianism (although there is some relief re the relaxed COVID sanctions), souring relations with a major trade partner, and so on.

Agreed. We might well be reaching the end of “hide the sausage” fiscal policy. But, that’s being caused more by the rapid increase in interest rates. Service on the debt is quickly becoming too big to hide, or ignore.

Although, the media and the Dems are sure trying.
