For me it was 1966.

I have my grandfather’s certificate too. I had no idea what it was when I found it.

My father did the initiation about the same time. We have photos and description in letters, but the certificate has been lost. USS Mississippi (BB-41), New Mexico-class battleship.

Got my shellback as an academy midshipman - went through the pipe 3 times damned steel deck on the LHA Ogden nearly crippled me with the crawling LOL
