US Navy sailors used to be able to jump off of aircraft carrier flight decks. They could even climb up the anchor chains and jump off the anchor ... all in the name of FUN! But FUN and SAFETY needs to be balanced. That's why drinking rules for Navy sailors are a lot more strict than they were a few decades ago. Swim calls and steel beach parties are still popular activities for US Navy sailors, but the dangers that are involved in some of these activities, and how the Navy tries to mitigate them...

I got initiated in 67 or 68. We were gator Navy and carried Marines a lot. This was tense racial times and a group of black Marines decided you can't do that kind of stuff to them.
The captain ordered all of them to stand watch in the engine rooms during the ceremonies and the steak BBQ after.

Those were air crew on an aircraft carrier.
They were different colors to represent the different specialties. (Ordnance, maintenance, etc.).

The camera switched to a US Naval Carrier. There were a bunch of sailors dressed in the colors or the Fag Flag and standing in alignment to look like the Fag FlagYou can’t possibly be this stupid.
Colored flight deck jerseys that designate a Sailor’s job have been standard wear for the Navy for the past 50 years or so.

I was at Ft. Sill in Oklahoma and they were 3.2% or so, but I thought that was because of Oklahoma, I don’t know if it was Army-wide.

In the Air Force, it was probably imported beer, with snacks.

I’ve seen this a few times in my flying career. Subs drifting at San Clemente Is in the summer with everyone swimming or sliding off around it.

Thank you- this was pointed out by others. Granted- seeing all the woke BS in today’s military, its easy to think otherwise- especially the way they had them lined up.

They were lined up in ‘divisions’, basically. That way it didn’t look like a bowl of Skittles or M&M’s (or are they MA & YA’s?).

I think it’s bold to join the Navy and not know how to swim.

Red shirts on a big attack carrier are the armament personnel. They assemble the missle/bomb components and install them and ammo on the aircraft. When they move anything nuclear, they are escorted by Marines with automatic weapons.
I served as a green shirt in catapults. The other half of our division was arresting gear. My boss was the division CDR who was the yellow shirt shooter.
