A World War II bomb exploded in the English town of Great Yarmouth on Friday as workers attempted to diffuse it, according to police.
The device was discovered Tuesday in a river crossing in Great Yarmouth. It was located by a contractor working on the third crossing over the River Yare.
And on Friday, Norfolk Police revealed there had been an “unplanned” detonation.
No injuries were reported and police said all army and emergency service personnel were accounted for.
Army specialists had been cutting the bomb using a technique that creates a slow burn of the explosives, police said. Workers began attempting to cut into the bomb on Thursday.

I watched it.
See what you did there!
Does anyone else want to point out the difference between “diffuse” and “defuse”?
I guess so. I'm not sure it curls around the English Channel to that far side of the island. I heard that if one of our pilots had to eject into the North Sea, he had to be rescued within about 1/2 hour before freezing to death.
What really happened was one of the bomb disposal guys was having an affair with another co-workers wife and he found out and that guy told him to cut the green wire.... hey hey

Typing that got me curious and I found this in Wikipedia.
Despite their northern location, the Nordic countries generally have a mild climate compared with other countries that share globally the same latitudes. The climate in the Nordic countries is mainly influenced by their northern location, but remedied by the vicinity to the ocean and the Gulf Stream which brings warm ocean currents from the tip of Florida.I suspect all things are relative. I sounds reasonable that the Gulf Stream wraps around the north of the British Isles and pushes colder water down from the Nordic Countries to the east coast at Great Yarmouth, maybe?

Ideally if a nose and or tail fuse is present a “rocket wrench” is used ..... Police are usually just a HDT team. Military Ordnance involved is usually a military EOD mission ...... just a SWAG (scientific wild ass guess) I did hundreds of these WWII as well as WWI and cannon balls found in Europe etc etc ....... the safest way was to BIP (blow in place) the devices after evacuating the area . Each piece of old ordnance is still deadly .
Glad no one was injured ....... Stay Safe Lurker !!!!
Yeah, I guess if the Gulf Stream warms the Nordic countries then it must curl around and warms the North Sea somewhat as well.
I was stationed in England 3 years, and the cold was of the cold-rainy-windy variety as opposed to the snow-and-ice variety.
