As a civilian supporting the USAF, I was awarded the ‘honorary’ call-sign of ‘Fester’ - as in Uncle Fester. Not because of how I looked, but rather for a remark I made and the zoomies just looked at each other, laughed, and the name was assigned.

I was a controller. I spent 2 hours total on a boat (out of the four years I was in). Our wacky base helo pilot flew out to see a friend on a carrier at the NATO pier, near Sigonella (forget the name of the carrier). He took some of us along. Got an interesting tour of the ship. Fun times.
