Black History Month is a time to honor triumphs of African Americans throughout history, but students and parents at Nyack Middle School raised the alarm after a racially insensitive meal was offered on the first day of the month.
If I owned a restaurant or supermarket, I sure as hell wouldn’t sell those whiners any chicken or watermelon. That’s “wasis”.
I will be happy, as a Caucasian, to enjoy a tasty dinner of fried chicken and watermelon in return for the establishment of a Caucasian History Month.
No chitlins, black eyed peas nor collard greens neither!
Ahh ain’ts no way tarred to go back now...
Sandia Crest in Albuquerque is so named because it glows pink in the sunset.
But isn’t Black History Month, September? Is this article about something that happened back in September??
vVeggies are important to a balanced diet.
After reading this earlier I made me some fresh hot waffles from scratch (OK I cheated and used Bisquick), slathered them with the local dairy co-op butter, Vermont maple syrup, and a few pieces of takeout fried chicken from the local KFC. Total cost of meal?
About $10. My goodness what a fabulous meal. I would have LOVED some fried or pickled okra but it’s not exactly an easy thing to find wintertime in the PNW.
I bet no more then 2 people complained about the fabulous delicious meal of chicken and waffles. Yumm yumm.
I suppose all we whiteys will get to complain next month when school serve corned beef and cabbage for Saint Paddy’s day.
Find me ANYONE who doesn’t like fried chicken, waffles, and watermelon??? My God. That’s like heaven’s buffet.
Years ago a Black co worker of mine told me of a restaurant in Newburgh, Mary’s Soul Food Kitchen. I must’ve been one of the few White guys who knew about this place🙂 I loved the ox tails with sweet potatoes, collard greens, cornbread and a slice of her delicious apple pie. Guy Fiero the Diners DriveIns and Dives guy would be impressed, it’s that good 😁
That’s great. You are a melon success story. I don’t think melons will work in my garden. We are up against a hillside, under shade trees, without enough hours of direct sunshine.
