I have been stunned at my sister’s experience with reverse racism in her hospital stays - I have been shocked, honestly. She came off the vent (praise God), and the tracheotomy, and she is eating so now her main goals now are rehab. At her last step down hospital it was pretty bad, there was a “gang” of nurses who picked on her and taunted her when her husband wasn’t there. He put in a hidden camera and saw it happening. He raised a stink and she got moved to a different ward which was better… but now they have moved her to a nursing home/rehab yesterday, and it is third world level conditions. I have been in some bad nursing homes but this is the worst thing I have ever seen. Just awful, they have her in an area not much bigger than my master bath with two other patients - and everyone has to leave the room just to get a hoyer lift in. I walked down the hall and counted nearly a dozen rooms, much roomier, with empty beds.
But what is worse is they are treating her so badly, withholding medicines, ignoring pain. I watched them help 4 other patients who were not having issues while she was needing to be moved so I finally went to the caregivers and told them she has been waiting nearly an hour, they kept saying said they would come, the last time I stood there until they did. I told them she didn’t have her meds, some are lifesaving, and they said that she is under the care of the nursing home doc now and she would get meds he prescribed. I told them she has prescribed meds, by specialists for life threatening health issues. She is also supposed to be on oxygen and they refused.
I am working with her husband to find a better place to move her to. I would bring her here if I had the rehab equipment to do it (it’s pretty advanced stuff)
Anyway, back to the racism issue, they were clearly taking care of certain patients and ignoring others. I was livid. One caregiver had the gall to tell me how nice it was my sister is a “homemaker” while the rest of “us” in America went to college and got jobs. My sister is 68 and retired and worked a blue college job for 30 years. The nerve of that woman.
Seriously, I was shaking I was so upset when I left today.
People are waking up to all this I think, I have had three people this week who never talked about this stuff who say they think we are under attack (either externally or internally or both in conjunction)

Seriously, that’s what it felt like. I have grown up alongside by blacks in this area but I have never experienced this. Things have changed.
