The food service director of an impoverished Illinois school district was charged with stealing $1.5 million of food — most of which was chicken wings.
Vera Liddell, 66, alleging began stealing from the Harvey School District during the heigh of COVID-19, local TV station WGN station reported.
The station reported that Liddell ordered more than 11,000 cases of chicken wings for the district with school funds, but took all the poultry for herself.
“The food was never brought to the school or provided to the students,” court records claimed.
Prosecutors alleged she started stealing while students were learning remotely but the district was still providing meals available for pickup.
It’s unclear what happened to the tens of thousands of pounds of chicken wings. Local news did not report the day of her arrest.
The alleged scheme was apparently uncovered when the district manager conducted a routine audit in January 2022 and founds food costs were $300,000 over budget just halfway through the school year, according to CBS News.

I was recently quizzed on the blue cheese vs. ranch issue by one of my kids. I said that I am actually fine with either one. Evidently, this made me “crazy.” If I had to choose, probably 75% of the time I would choose blue cheese, but I really don’t care between the two.

This is why the smart cook and Superbowl hostess will substitute drumsticks for wings, in their favorite wings recipes. Wings which cost at least 2.5 time more. Obviously lots more meat on the drums.

She’s being held on bond for stealing chicken wings, but the person who destroyed electric power stations in Washington State, causing 30,000 people to lose power, is out walking around, looking for an out in drug rehab, not to mention the multiple violent offenders Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg has released without bail. Hunter and the Biden crime family have committed treason, and stolen more than Vera ever did, and none of them will ever be held accountable for it.
Thanks on Eric Lidell. And he was treated fairly with no sarcasm in the movie. I loved the “Chariots of Fire” movie when it first came out. For me, running at all distances is the ultimate sport. The ultimate physical test for men.
