We Tasted 9 Dill Pickle Brands & This Is The Best
Eat this, Not that ^ | 8/26/22 | Megan dubois

Dill pickles can be found in most grocery store refrigerators across America. The crunchy, tart condiment veggie is perfect on a snack plate, on cheeseburgers, or even on its own. But after trying nine different dill pickles, I learned that not all brands are created equally.

The top brand from my taste test was the easy favorite with my friends and family who participated and let's just say the bottom brand isn't one I will be buying again, even if it's the only jar left on the shelves at the grocery store. Keep reading to find out the best tasting dill pickles that should always be in your refrigerator. Unfortunately most of us are stuck with cukes obliterated with vinegar based brine. We don’t know a good full sour fermented pickle like at a good deli with a barrel of naturally fermented pickles. I loved them so much after living in Poland I learned how to make them myself and it is so easy I just make my own now.

Claussen is still pretty good. The best dill pickles ever were Mrs. Neusihin’s, but the brand was bought by another pickle maker a long time ago, and they weren’t the same after that.

I have to agree with the articles number one pick being Grillo’s. Our oldest son turned us on to them. He’s a food adventurer. Id never heard of them before but they really are excellent.

When I finish a jar of pickles I hard boil some eggs, peel them and stuff that jar of pickle juice. Soak for at least a couple of weeks and enjoy.

Aunt Bea’s pickles - one of the greatest sitcom episodes of all time!!!!!

Two other great ones:

WKRP in Cincinnati: “as God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!!!”

Mary Tyler Moore: the funeral of Chuckles the Clown

Not a sitcom, but Carol Burnette show: Tim Conway’s ad lib bit on Saimese elephants

On a related note, some potato salad recipes use pickle juice and taste great.
I know a chef who marinates chicken breasts in pickle juice. They're always delicious.

“Claussen, hands down.

They used to be, until they started using High Fructose Corn Syrup”.

I just looked at the label of my latest purchase of Claussens and see no high fructose corn syrup or other sugars. You must have gotten them mixed up with another brand.

I hate buying pickle spears, which are the only type used in this taste test done by a single person. The title says “we” but the reviews all say “I.”

We buy whole dill pickles and when we want a spear, we cut one up. That way they stay crispier.

We like lots of different brands of pickles and we get tired of brands when we have them repetitively. One thing we all agree on is that Vlasic is the worst. They used to be good. Something changed and we don’t like it.
