Alongside the usual shipments of drugs and guns confiscated at the US border, customs officers are intercepting a surprising commodity – eggs.
Traffickers are attempting to sneak thousands of Mexican “huevos” across the border per week after skyrocketing prices have made them a hot property, costing up to $8 per dozen in certain parts of America.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said they saw an uptick of 108% in egg seizures in the last three months of 2022, according to Border Report and violators end up having to shell out for a fine of up to $10,000.

Did get a dozen of medium sized eggs at Walmart for $2.18 2 weeks ago!!! Yipee.
Now that I can’t afford eggs, they taste better.
More like 10-15% unless someone has reliable sources. Egg demand is surprisingly inelastic. The same inelastic demand is why gasoline price jumps with a seemingly small supply interruption.

The drug dealers have stopped selling drugs and are now standing at street corners selling eggs.
Egg prices started rising when California enacted new laws regulating the minimum space a hen can have.
Same issue coming up with pork.
Why haven’t Mexican chickens been nearly wiped out by bird flu lol as in the US?
