In the vast world of content creators and influencers, Ian Boncodin has found a remarkably simple path to success: get high in public and film it.
The Bay Area YouTuber, who goes under the name Damianluck925, has gained hundreds of thousands of followers and millions of views on immediate classic videos like “I GOT WAY TOO FADED AT LOWES” and “EXTREMELY OBLITERATED AT CARL'S JR.” The cannabis schtick is so simple and so obvious that skeptics may wonder why anyone would film it, let alone watch it. But somehow, it’s become 23-year-old Boncodin’s full time career.
“It’s pretty crazy how it all happened,” Boncodin told SFATE. “I just be f—cking high as hell in the store just saying random ass s—t. I think it’s funny one time and I just keep rolling with it. … A lot of it is just inside jokes that I shared to the world, and like it caught on.”
This simple formula has made the YouTuber a rising star in the very saturated market of video influencers. He has over 780,000 followers on YouTube and over 350,000 followers on Instagram. Boncodin declined to tell SFGATE how much money he’s making, but he did confirm that he was able to make it his full-time job three months ago.
Boncodin is part of the exploding video influencer economy, which has spread from the enormously popular world of video game live-streaming into an increasingly long (and sometimes bewildering) list of activities....
For outsiders not accustomed to “A Day in the Life” YouTubers and TikTok stars, it can be baffling how these influencers generate such a strong following while they engage in frankly boring tasks. My first response to a Boncodin video was utter confusion as to why anyone would watch it... *** MORE

What was Dean Wormer said? “Fat, stoned and stupid is no way to go through life, son.”
its a livin’
Some like to watch the train wreck.
People are making insane amounts of money filming their sex scenes in all kinds of crazy places, it should not be a surprise that getting stoned in public is now a thing to make money.
Yes, it’s a sign of the times and only the beginning of really obscene things becoming popular that makes people a lot of money.
That stuff can make you go nuts if you smoke too much.
if I have lots of money and want to promote a certain behavior
it is much easier than you would believe..
it works very much like an mLm enterprise where you fund the original hype and top producers for a few years
Guess I'm too old for that to make any rational sense . . .
Carl’s Jr. is a good a place as any for that.
RE: making money getting stoned in public
Wasn’t that true of Canned Heat, the Grateful Dead and other rock stars?
The gifted guitarist Henry Vestine of Canned Heat was born upper middle class and didn’t have to have a job. His gift of guitar artistry was eventually ruined by his heavy LSD use along with other drugs. At first fans in the audience thought it was funny and “cool” that he would fall over a cord onstage, then fall off a stool another night and finally couldn’t remember what song the group was playing. Incredibly he missed Woodstock when they couldn’t get him motivated to leave his bed. Harvey Mandell had been in the audience often at their concerts and was convinced to replace Vestine at the historic Woodstock festival. Drugs ruined Vestine’s career. A terrible waste.
Among my favorite solos of lead guitarists is this one
“When Things Go Wrong. It Hurts Me, Too.”

Several better sound quality versions exist.
Best is probably the 2 CD If You Can’t Stand the Heat, Get out of the Kitchen: Live in Concert (2008).
I guess I was naive. I figured legal weed meant that people would smoke it for enjoyment in the privacy of their homes, a practice that I have no problem with.
The public and open consumption of pot smoking should've been something that I anticipated but didn't.
I'll admit. I'm kinda surprised at the number of people who now reek of pot and fire up giant, banana-sized joints in public spaces.
People have been behaving badly in public for a long time, even before pot was a thing
How can vaping of pot inside a restaurant be ok? Where are all the do gooders telling him he can’t expose other people to the health risks of second hand vaping?
Even his last name sounds like a promo for drug use?: Boncodin = the french word for Good + Codine: Boncodin.
I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.

Heck yeah. I want to see the one where he goes to court stoned.
"Bailiff...Whack his pee-pee!"

Imagine how much you could make if you combined sex and getting high. Maybe throw in drunk for an extra bonus.
