My wife just got 2 as presents from co-workers. Not seeing anything saying they’re being discontinued. Everybody is advertising you can buy them there. Though honestly they kind of suck, they’re usually loaded with transaction fees so if you wind up spending the money in bits and pieces you’ll lose a bunch. It would be nice if they were discontinued, but they’re a profit center, so that’s probably not happening.

Really? I was searching for a particular gift card just last week. Checked several stores. All had Visa Cash Cards .Is it a regional thing?

Perhaps it is. I noticed it just before Christmas when local TDBank stated that they would no longer provide cash visa cards and would honor the outstanding ones for such a time.

Then I noticed that they were not in the stores with the regular gift cards.

They still make money on people that pay off. Just not from you. The business pays for the privilege of being able to process a particular credit card. And they also pay a percentage of the transaction to the credit card company. They PREFER people who let a balance roll and pay interest, often rewarding them with a higher limit more often than others. But they get paid coming and going, they’re not worried about a few people who avoid interest.

I'm really not fond of any of the Wall St banks, BOA included. They are an organized racket to me.

We need banking, but we first need to rescind the repeal of Glass-Steagall.

Someone might say, "Yeah, but it's got to be paid back in a month!" So in a month you go to that special computer, you create billions more from Federal Reserve thin air, and you rinse and repeat. You service your debt from revenue from Treasury coming from American taxation and borrowed funds.
