Good catch. On the surface, it doesn't seem that there is much new here - in the sense that dietary nutrients have been recognized as possibly slowing the progression of macular degeneration {AMD}. Of course vitamin C, copper and zinc plus lutien and zeaxanthin. Vitamin B variants may be a newer discovery.
In a few early cases 'dry' AMD progresses into the 'wet' form, which is somewhat treatable; the 'dry' form has no known treatment and thus slowing the progression of AMD is the key. Any supplements that can help are welcome. My mother suffered from AMD in her latter years; it was so frustrating for her.
