Actor Adam Rich died in his Los Angeles home over the weekend. He was 54.
Rich, who was best known for his childhood role in the 1970s Eight is Enough television series, was found lifeless inside his home Saturday, according to reports.
“Adam was simply a wonderful guy,” said Danny Deraney, Rich’s Hollywood representative. “He was kind, generous and a warrior in the fight against mental illness.”
"Adam did not have an ounce of ego," Deraney added. "He was unselfish and always looked out for those he cared about, which is why many people who grew up with him feel like part of their childhood gone, and sad today. He really was America’s little brother."
Deraney confirmed Rich “had a rare type of depression that was medication resistant.”
A cause of death has not been revealed, but law enforcement reported foul play was not involved.
Rich is remembered for being kindhearted amid having "mental health struggles."
Fellow actor Todd Bridges said Rich would be missed.
Rich’s acting credits also included appearances on The Love Boat, CHiPs, Small Wonder, Baywatch, and a voice role in 1983’s Dungeons & Dragons.
The actor nearly died in 1989 following a Valium overdose, according to Variety. Rich also reportedly spent three years in rehab prior to a DUI arrest in 2022.
Rich was born on Oct. 12, 1968.
54-—way too young!
RIP
Dick Van Patten and Lani O’Grady had previously passed.
Oops, and Diana Hyland.
Sadly, Adam had substance abuse issues, which resulted in a 1991 arrest after he smashed a pharmacy window in an effort to obtain drugs.

He was a cute kid...Shame his life turned out not so good...Happens to a lot of child stars...
Any parent would be crazy to put their child into the grip of Hollywood. It too often ends badly. He lived longer than some.
I thought Todd Bridges died years ago. I was thinking of Dana Plato.
I think his medically resistant depression would be due to the tolerance buildup of his drug taking.
He’s another child star that was abused and couldn’t recover from his experiences.
Todd Bridges is the only main cast member left from different strokes.
coleman, plato, conrad bain, all 3 housekeepers, and i think even Drummonds wife in the later part of series are all dead
Very sad... wayy too young. RIP.
Wow. Very sad. Wonder if he had tried ketamine ?
A Minor Consideration, founded by Paul Peterson (Jeff Stone, The Donna Reed Show) posted a nice tribute by Adam’s TV brother, Willie Aames. https://www.facebook.com/minorcon
curious.. why the question about ketamine?
Because it is the best thing available for standard treatment resistant depressives. Less effective for depression/anxiety, though, and not sure how the past drug use, numerous stints in rehab etc would impact results. Apparently Rich had tried various experimental treatments over the years.
Todd, the former crackhead, is the only one still alive.
Maybe Dudley too, but I mean the main family…
The youngest of 8 is Enough.
Its not supposed to be this way!
Doesn't matter. FR coroners have already established a cause (💉) and written their report.
Drug abuse I’d bad.
