I agree with that 100% McConnell needs to retire.
Amazing the major events that take place in the dead of night while unsuspecting people are sound asleep in their beds.
I’m thinking that these warriors are going to get something worthwhile out of this fiasco. The thing is, I doubt there is anyone who the MAGA reps want who could get 218 votes. They really didn’t have someone they were putting forward. Jim Jordan did NOT want it and made it clear. Donalds seemed to be an afterthought, as was President Trump and Hern. I stopped to think about who else could get 218 votes, and I couldn’t think of anyone.
It was a little unrealistic of the holdouts to think they could name the Speaker - so holding out for solid deals and more power going forward may be a pretty substantial win for the good guys.
I pray that’s not true. But they never came up with one candidate that actively tried to get votes, or with a clear written agenda. They had 2 months to do it. And if they had succeeded, and the entire conference still has to vote on rules package, then what what would change? This argument doesn’t make sense.
I like the rules changes, votes need to be whipped to get them passed.

I truly understand about “not wanting to bother each other”. Basically, that is what I did related to my SIL’s death. She is dearer to me than my sister is, but there were others there who were closer, to wit, my brother, and my niece and nephew. I set my grief aside for a time to be available and flexible for them.
But now, I am in a totally different environment. People did, of course, notice I was gone for a month. When asked, I allow myself to tear up. And, there is a grief group beginning this Thursday. I believe I will join it. I am fairly certain that I have heard it all before, but it might be good just to sit and listen and perhaps there is something I am ignoring in my sadness surrounding Connie’s death. Being here is a safe place to address these issues while knowing that I won’t be lessening the grief Connie’s immediate family is experiencing.

Judicial Watch was informed by a representative at Joint Base Andrews that a “Distinguished Visitor Suite” is typically reserved for officers at the rank of O-7 (Brigadier General or higher.).
An August 2021 email from the assistant hotel manager indicates that the U.S. Capitol Police had been paying Byrd’s bills by phone “every 10 days.”
“I asked her if it was the same friends who had the shot and she was quiet for a minute and said, that must be it.”
