Parrots are AWESOME!!
It takes a special personality and they KNOW whoa are and are not bird people!
If you’re ok with the dust, dander, feathers, and occaisonal moths that hatch from their food, they’re great friends for life.
Had a Nanday for many years who went EVERYWHERE with me. Thought it was male (stoopid assumption), until she died egg-bound. Broke my heart. She’s in the yard. Sad part is that they often they live longer than we do and their loss is traumatic after that life long bond.
cieling fans off
toilet lids down
no teflon pans
...list goes on.
Best wishes to and your feathered friend.
Many thanks! Nandays are absolutely beautiful. And you’re right, parrots are practically psychic. Mine, a Rosey Bourke’s Parrot, plays me like a fiddle.
Bourke’s Parrots are a little smaller than a Nanday, and the quietest members of the parrot family. A real Godsend given that my job requires a lot of concentration! I’ve made arrangements for his continued care in the event I die before he does.
Your Nanday will be waiting for you when your own time comes. I know His Majesy will be there when I shuffle off this mortal coil, ready to fly over and poop on my shoulder (his way of expressing affection). Heh.
Best, AFB-XYZ
PARROT SLIDE
I had a wonderful little gray cockatiel for 22 years. Darlin and my hearts were broken when he died. Was one of best companions ever. He’s in the yard under a rose bush.
I’d had no idea how smart and compassionate birds could be. My beloved cocker spaniel died not too long after I acquired the parrot. During my grief, I was amazed at how that little bird comforted me. (That was before I acquired Darlin. He came along a few years later )
Sorry about your Nanday... beautiful birds. I am NOT a bird person lol. Well, I had parakeets in my dog grooming salon for years. Every time I’d get a new one I’d say.. “this time I’m going to handle them.” Hahaha.. nope never did. And I only named them by their color lol.. Clue game. Mr Green, Mrs White 😂.
I had 2 that died and one was white and the other blue. So, I got 2 new ones, I think green and yellow. My grandson, who was little at the time came in and said, “NANA! Your birds changed colors!!” I was like “Yes, yes they did.”
