Funny because the best fried chicken is broasted, and that equipment was invented in Wisconsin. The equipment is sold all over the world and I have even run into broasted chicken in the Middle East.

“Publix is very good.”

It is good enough for me. I take it home and re-heat it to very hot in the oven or toaster oven. Sprinkle some salt on it. Eat with hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce on the side. I refuse to eat lukewarm fried chicken!

Golden Corral had some good fried chicken, but the one near me closed down. Which is better for me. Because I would eat their fried chicken along with a bowl of mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. Last time did that was 5-6 years ago.

Well, I don’t know about “broasted” but I do know southern fried chicken and that wasn’t southern fried chicken up there...

***I had the to hear Colonel Sanders hold Court on his front porch***

I met him in 1969 at the Jacksonville Arkansas Kentucky Fried Chicken store there. A nice man. He was on his way to Fayetteville Ar to see the Razorbacks get whipped by the Longhorns. He was giving out recipe books for his side dishes.

I just find 'Southern' fried chicken way over rated. Biscuits down here suck too.

“Didn’t the Colonel get in a gunfight with a rival gas station owner.”

I have no knowledge of such an incident.

Re: 31 - Sad what has happened to KFC’s chicken. It seems “soggy”.

KFC is popular in Japan. My stepdaughter will go to a KFC on Friday evening for a New Year’s dinner.

Nah I love southern food. The best food in the country comes from the southern part of Louisiana. And the worst food in the country comes from the Midwest, excepting Chicago and Detroit. But they make great chicken and biscuits up there.

The Big Yellow Houses in Cal was good and served family style and all you can eat. They went out of business.

When I attended NC State, there was a Church’s on the corner of Western Boulevard and Method Road. 3 honkin’ size pieces of chicken, a biscuit and glass of sweet tea for $2.50.

Amazing.....

I’ve eat basically from coast to coast and Texas to Canada and in my opinion it is really hard to beat food from the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina...

Country cooking is the best there is...

Mom’s.
I do not know what she did and neither does she when I ask.

It had a brown crust and the joints and crannies would have breading that was white on the inside. Fried in a Presto electric with a high lid.

I can’t replicate it. Wish I could.

“My grandmothers fried chicken was the best. She would give the recepie to my mother, but always left an ingredient out.”

My Mother said she never knew a chicken had a gizzard because my Granny always ate them first. Granny would chop the head off, pluck it and fry it in lard in a cast iron skillet on a coal stove. Lord, I’ve never gotten anything to match it since. Oh, this was in the 50s in Tennessee.

Colonial Kitchen in San Marino, CALIF. We’d go every Saturday night (almost). The waitstaff was convinced my grandfather was Juan Manuel Fangio and he played along. His meal was always comped by the manager.
