It’s not like she wasn’t TOLD, by an archangel no less. Of course she knew.

And the insinuation that Our Lord had to deliver her is blasphemous. God created her without the stain of sin

Through the foreseen merits of her Son, according to Pio Nono. So the contention that Jesus had to deliver her is perfectly orthodox; he did so at her conception. The song says "will soon deliver you," indicating that her deliverance was still in the future, which is of course wrong. Perhaps that's what you meant.

And the next line: “Where nothing ever grows, no rain nor rivers flow
Do they know it’s Christmas time at all? (oh)”

As the great Sam Kinison said ‘It’s desert, move!’

Please explain what this is.   I have read in the comments above about a Wham song called "Last Christmas" but I do not remember ever hearing something like that.   I haven't listened to the radio much in the past eight years.   I haven't watch much network television since many years before that.   What is the deal with "Last Christmas?"

I have to admit that I've thought "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" was a catchy tune.   But, I always thought it was a one hit wonder.

The common phrase was the Five and Dime, and I really like “It’s Beginning to look a lot like Christmas.”

He was a great businessman and an American treasure. And I like all his songs except the hyper-nasal Sanny Claus piece...

I believe he was singing it for children and I accept it that way.

Also, here in the deep South, I remember relatives calling that jolly old elf, Sanny Claus.   Come to think of it, some of my relatives were from a town in Oklahoma that was one hundred miles north of where Gene Autry was born.

LOL so I looked it up and realized that my Grandfather was born two weeks to the day after Gene Autry, 100 miles apart.

what if someone special Is Jesus

Then he should have said it. There's no hint at all that's what he meant, even in a veiled way.

Your version was close to mine.

When I was a child, I thought he was singing “Cindy Allen A Wonderful Christmas Time”. I was too young to consider how stupid my interpretation was.

“Last Christmas” in any of the half dozen or so variants, but especially George Michael’s.
“All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey.
Anything by former Beetles.
I can tolerate most anything else but those are not only the worst, but seem to compost 90% of what gets played on the radio and in stores.

For a Christmas carolish song, the absolute worst is “Mary Did You Know”. Yes she knew. Read the Bible. Thankfully it is too close to a religious song to get played out in public much.

And the chipmunks... it was fun in 1963, but I didn3t watch tv much... now it’s just annoying. I did like Allen Sherman and Homer & Jethro tho’

Might as well play “Christmas at the airport” - considering how many people are stuck there now, especially in Seattle.

The two person group WHAM, had a few hits in the 80’s. I can think of two hits including the one you mention.

At some point one of the guys, George Michal, went solo and at some point he recorded the abomination of a “Christmas” song called “Last Christmas”.

It’s been playing multiple times every Christmas season ever since.

It needs to die. Preferably by fire...nuclear fire.

The site https://www.whamageddon.com/ you can read for yourself.

It’s a survival game.
