Nobody no corporation no big business esp real estate empire files taxes in that realm of finance without an audit…at least an inhouse audit. The liability is simply too great. The laws change often.

His CPAs and lawyer and CFO would have advised him on his tax conformity as soon as he became under attack by political foes looking for dirt. If they assured him his returns were audited for compliance….his implication may have been to believe it was the IRS …though it may have been inhouse or second look by private audit, that’s what he heard and assumed. Many of those guys are ex- IRS so they know the ropes…and the people in the IRS

Like Jenna Ellis states, hostile and politically ambitious NYS AG had his returns for years and only managed to fund a minor civil infraction. And boy does NYS like that revenue, esp when someone like Trump ( or Rush Limbaugh) escapes to Florida
