Soap opera star Sonya Eddy has died. She was 55.
Octavia Spencer announced on her Instagram that the “General Hospital” actress died Monday. She didn’t provide any details regarding the cause of Eddy’s death.
“My friend @sonyaeddy passed away last night. The world lost another creative angel. Her legions of @generalhospitalabc fans will miss her 💔🕊️,” Spencer, 52, captioned a professional headshot of Eddy.

Burton and Rademacher were both fired for refusing the jab. Rademacher sued, but I don’t know the outcome.
It shows the bias of Disney. Burton is very religious and has been for years and they still refused his exemption.
I know, right? And what are they going to do when Eric Braeden kicks it? He is already 81.
What soap or soaps did the actor who played Roger Collins and the actress who played Carolyn Collins play on? If I recall both of them moved on to other shows.
Richard Burgi (Ashton Locke) got thrown off of Y&R because of vaccine issues as well--I think he didn't quarantine long enough or something relatively trivial, especially in hindsight (vaxxes don't work, masks don't work, etc). All those liberals out there aren't so liberal.
That's terrible. Does Disney own Y&R also? Steve Burton could come back as Nicky Newman's long lost son who was married to Sharon but went deep undercover and boom, gone. I can't remember if he and Sharon divorced or not; but she's a widow now since they dumped her latest husband, the Rey Rosales character.
Nurses Balls won’t be the same without her.
No, Disney owns ABC. Paramount has CBS. Steve is on Days of our Lives now.
The only person I want back is Billy Miller to replace the terrible Jason Thompson as “Billy”. Billy Miller and “Victoria” had GREAT chemistry and is such a better actor than Thompson. And not as wimpy.
Although Braeden is clearly the center of Y&R, he’s been slowly fading away, and there really hasn’t been anyone who can fill his shoes. I heard he was preparing for the inevitability of departing the show before he dies. I’m not sure he wants to go out like Jeanne Cooper did, but you never know. Some of these actors make it to their 90s and still remain active (look at Dick Van Dyke, a recovered alcoholic, and he’s nearly 100).
Thanks. He is a lovely actor.
Braeden can barely walk, it appears.
Yes! Loved Billy Miller as Billy Abbott. I saw Miller in a bit part recently on, I think, that CBS show about “Todd” featuring the guy who used to be in Zoey’s Extrordinary Playlist.
I can’t remember how Jeanne Cooper went out.
Her last scene was with Jill and she walked up the stairs. IIRC, she died in a few days later.
Here’s the scene. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RQ1Y7TzX-I
Louis “Big Lou” Edmonds played Roger Collins. He was later on “All My Children” from 1979-92 as the husband of Ruth Warrick’s Phoebe Tyler Wallingford. He died back in 2001 at 77.
Carolyn Stoddard was played by Nancy Barrett. She was on different soaps after “Dark Shadows” concluded, including “One Life to Live”, “The Doctors”, and briefly as (the 2nd) Dr. Faith Coleridge on “Ryan’s Hope.” She’s been retired from appearing onscreen since 1986. She’s 81 now.
Completely wrecked Burgi’s storyline when he was abruptly fired. They brought in another actor, Robert Newman (who was well-regarded on his “Guiding Light” stint) to play Locke, who was all wrong for the role and had no chemistry with Amelia Heinle’s Victoria Newman. They soon changed the storyline to having his cancer be made up and then killed him off. Bad show. Burgi could’ve been a worthy successor to Braeden’s Victor Newman.
As an aside about Steve Burton and Ingo Radamacher, I think politics itself was more behind the firings. Nancy Lee Grahn is a real harridan behind the scenes, a huge Communist control freak. When Ingo was quietly voicing his distaste for bringing a bona fide tranny onto GH to play a high-level doctor, she used that as a cudgel to run him off the show despite his decades there (with a brief stint on “Bold & The Beautiful” as an ill-advised recast of Ridge Forrester’s younger brother - of course, Ridge’s recast was ill-advised).
Exactly. Cooper was in the hospital shortly after filming the scene. She thought she’d be able to return to filming, but passed away. Somehow, they must’ve known it would be her final scene. Similar to John Ingle’s last scene as Edward Quartermaine on GH. He could barely speak at that point, his character selflessly choosing to give a vaccine that would save his life to a child instead, and passing away (as the actor soon did).
