Does Trump Really Want to Be President Again?
American Greatness ^ | t Dec, 2022 | Victor Davis Hanson

Posted on 12/08/2022 5:01:45 AM PST by MtnClimber

Given events since Trump’s departure, he should be in the driver’s seat. But he is not.

Team Trump has sometimes compared Donald Trump’s current quest for a nonsequential second term to two-term President Grover Cleveland’s similar three election bids.

Cleveland remains our only elected (1884) president to have lost a reelection bid (1888)—in a disputed vote—only to be reelected four years later (1892).

Yet Trump seems determined instead to follow a different, and bullheaded, Teddy Roosevelt model.

Roosevelt left the presidency (1908), sat out four years, and then lost a reelection bid in 1912, split and alienated the Republican Party, and ensured the election of the progressive Woodrow Wilson.

Joe Biden’s first “corrective” two years have been an utter disaster.

Biden birthed hyperinflation. He destroyed a secure border and Trump’s energy self-sufficiency. Crime is now out of control. The United States was humiliated abroad in Afghanistan. Rising interest rates will soon spark a recession.

After promising to unite the country, Biden smeared half the voting population as “un-American” and “semi-fascist.”

In addition, almost all of Trump’s prior complaints, predictions, and assertions that the media dismissed as conspiratorial, or crackpot have proven eerily prescient.

Hunter Biden’s laptop was all too authentic.

The FBI was compromised and acted as an agent of the Democratic Party. Anthony Fauci proved a partisan.

Russian collusion was an utter hoax. It was engineered by Hillary Clinton, the Democratic National Committee, and the FBI.

The Wuhan lab did likely birth the engineered COVID virus. That fact was covered up by the media and public health establishments.

Donald Trump did not take “nuclear codes” to Mar-a-Lago. He did not plan on hawking his presidential papers for profit.

Germany did weaken NATO. Berlin was foolish to mortgage its future with energy dependency on a hostile Vladimir Putin.

I believe Trump is communicating for 2024 much the same way he did in 2016. And he believes it will work in 2024 better than it did in 2020 because he now can say it as an outsider not in the WH, unlike 2020 when he was in office.

Whether or not it works in 2024 as well as it did in 2016 remains to be seen. But from Trump's perspective, referring to his main primary opponent today as "Desanctimonious" ought to work as well as "Lying Ted" did in 2016.

As far as Trump's posts about ignoring the Constitution, I remind you of the many outlandish things Trump said in 2016 -- and it increased his popularity. Peter Thiel (a Dim strategist) point out and Rush repeated it frequently: Dim and GOPe take Trump's statements literally not seriously. Conservatives take Trump's statements seriously not literally. Trump is still communicating in this manner.

No one else is going come to the aid of the January 6th patriots who have been held as political criminals.

A lot of people have done more for them so far than Trump, which best I can tell, is nothing. What is he waiting on? Wait, you're saying he has to be President again, or there's nothing, at all, he could be doing, or could have done? You sure? What if he never becomes President again? Problem over?

Why not just start with a list of who they all are (~1,000), and focus on just a few that appear to have been wrongfully charged. Surely there are at least a few that are at least potentially innocent that he could be trying to help now? Is that too much too ask? Maybe he doesn't have time? Or does he have to be President again, before we can ask what he's going to actually do to help. Some of these people may be dead by then, or at least emotionally destroyed.

Or maybe they're all actually guilty. Who knows, no one is really even trying to identify them, or what they supposedly did. Why not? Just wondering, since you brought it up. Thanks.

I think Trump’s image is more or less ready fully baked into the consciousness of most voters. He is what he is. We’re going to have to wait to see if that is enough to win. The primary and then the election, or not.

Trump is running in '24. Desantis will get crushed if he tries to go against Trump.

I predict that you will be voting for Trump in Nov. ‘24.

Get used to the idea.

Where else are you going to go?

"No chance of Trump being President again, he has been so demonized, and people are so confused, deranged and wicked they would never vote for him, least not enough..."

Yeah, your track record on predictions ain't much...

I’m really not sure what we’re hoping for. He has ideas that we need, but when he was elected, he had a conservative court and his party controlled both the Senate and the House. They accomplished little together.

He did not fight his domestic enemies. They are all still alive and well

He negotiated with foreign enemies and set sanctions. He is a deal maker.

His domestic enemies would not come to the table, much less make a deal. They killed him

VDH is saying what is on a lot of conservative Trump supporters minds. We can never thank Trump for the achievements and sacrifices he has made. That said, we need another Trumpian type President if not him.

Personally, by now, I think we can remove the word 'impossible' from American politics and I believe he could be President again.... (still, actually). 😁

In any case, ‘revenge’ is a waste of time right now. I mean the more pressing matter is to ‘right the ship’ and to leave revenge for lesser people with lesser abilities. Trump is bigger than that.

It can be done. But only IF Americans come to their senses and abandon the Liberal example of collective and incessant hysterics.

AND since every word and step of Trump's administration was a daily lesson in common sense and honest, right-mindedness, we CAN revisit the security and prosperity that his leadership promised and DELIVERED, in spades!! I'm for it!

Most Presidents enter the Whitehouse with a phalanx of attorneys and DC insiders that fit into the entrenched Congress/K Street/Pentagon cabal. Trump was a man alone, he suffers for it.

TRUMP or no one. Trump is the ONLY one who can fix our destroyed country.

So if not Trump, we are finished as a country.

I think we already are, but if there is ANY hope at all to fix this, it’s Trump.

Trump is a 5-time loser who has not changed strategies in the face of ballot harvesting.

He shows no signs of doing anything different in 2024, which disqualifies him.

Until we use ballot harvesting to win, we will be perpetual losers, regardless our candidate.

The candidate who has a strategy gets my primary vote.
