What would the world look like without America? Where exactly would the world be without Christianity, capitalism and free markets, and the idea of natural rights?

Where exactly would the world be without Christianity, capitalism and free markets, and the idea of natural rights? Without...America?

Would assembly lines and mass production have ever been thought of? Efficiencies of scale? Abundant and affordable goods of all kinds? What could have brought billions out of poverty in the past several decades? Would someone have eventually discovered electricity? Who would have invented dental floss, hearing aids, cardiac defibrillators, radiocarbon dating, traffic lights, crash test dummies, lasers, LEDs, chemotherapy, microwave ovens, video games, mobile phones, fiber optic cables, email, personal computers, skyscrapers, suspension bridges, airplanes, the phonograph, the light bulb, the internet, and the Global Positioning System, just to name a few of the mind-boggling number of American inventions that have so greatly benefited mankind humankind?

There is much talk today among the woke about "appropriation" and "reparations." Appropriation?! Virtually everyone else in the world has appropriated American inventions, technology, and ideas. (Or stolen them outright, as is the case with China.) Perhaps reparations are due to the United States from all the countries that have immeasurably benefited from its excellence and largess, and the countless millions who would not otherwise be alive today.

It is true that the American founders themselves gleaned much from Europe's Enlightenment, also known as the Age of Reason. Thomas Jefferson utilized some of John Locke's ideas in composing the Declaration of Independence, particularly Locke's notion of natural rights. Sadly, today, Western nations are intent on rushing headlong into what can only be called the Confusion, or the Age of Stupidity. Where once we pondered and debated the accumulated wisdom of human history and man's relation to God and His universe, today we can't even acknowledge the existence of two sexes or identify the things that differentiate them.

Without Christianity and Jesus, the world would be a sad miserable place to be.

Christianity invented free will. Think about all the cultures that deny it, beginning with Islam.

And by the way, Fred Reed anticipated the article by several years...

I love his idea that we should be charging the rest of the world rent for using the benefits of our culture.

I'm not sure their premise is true

Does the USA still represent "Christianity, capitalism, and free-markets?"

Certainly China, Russia, etc... do not - but have we become just another central-planning, power-seeking and competing global power to them?

Too late!
That is the world that America represents already...

The United Nazi States of Europe would have eventually gotten around to inventing all of those things.

“..They will be finding out soon....”

Heh, heh...Yep.... :)

“For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout,
with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God:
And the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
And so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

What happens on the face of this old earth after the fulfilling of that prophetic event is gonna be ugly.....verrrrry ugly. It ain’t gonna be pretty.

Classical pagan culture certainly believed in free will, it was the ultimate do as you want as long as you salute the emperor as a god.

I’ll call horseshit on your EU nazi states.
You’re such a joker...

Everything in the progress, advancement and achievement we enjoy today is rooted in Christ’s infrastructure. Magna arts, patent law, Martin Luther, industrial revolution are the key points.

Only the Christians from Great Britain did it, not anyone easy of the hajnal line, nor the americas. Not the Chinese, not the Indians, not the world of Islam, not Africa.

Communal systems like Marxism never had the necessary infrastructure... Let alone the fact that Marx didn’t understand capital.

You see this as well?

Censorship works only if you're dumb
They are called influencers, but for the life of me, I can't imagine why.  But Andrew Breitbart knew why and who was behind them and wrote about it in his book  Righteous Indignation: Excuse Me While I Save the World (2011):

When the Soviet Union disintegrated, the battle simply took a different form. Instead of missiles the new weapon was language and education, and the international left had successfully constructed a global infrastructure to get its message out. Schools. Newspapers. Network news. Art. Music. Film. Television. For decades the left understood the importance of education, art, and messaging. Oprah Winfrey gets it. David Geffen gets it. Bono gets it. President Barack Obama gets it. Even Corey Feldman gets it. But the right doesn't. For decades the right felt the Pentagon and the political class and simple common sense could win the day. They were wrong. The left does not win its battles in debate. It doesn't have to. In the twenty-first century, media is everything. The left wins because it controls the narrative. The narrative is controlled by the media. The left is the media. Narrative is everything. I call it the Democrat-Media Complex—and I am at war to gain back control of the American narrative. How things have changed.

The United States brought freedom to billions of people. If the USA did not exist then europe would be working on ww4 by now.

Had the USA not butted into World War One, the war would likely have ended in a stalemate.

Thus, no Communist revolutions in Hungary and Germany in 1918-19 (and perhaps a few other places). Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire still intact. Bolshevism better contained.

If no Communist upheavals, no fascist counter-reactions. No Nazis, no World War Two, no Holocaust. Possibly no Israel, but perhaps a price worth paying to avoid the Holocaust.

With no World War Two, British and French Empires possibly still intact. No wars in Algeria, Vietnam, and elsewhere.

More importantly, with no Hitler or Holocaust, no European guilt over "racism" and "colonialism," thus no guilt-ridden need to bring in migrants.

That's how the world might have turned out had World War One ended in a stalemate, had the United States not butt in in 1917.

(And if the U.S. had followed a purely neutral position from the start, German U-boats would not have been an issue.)

Had the U.S. remained neutral, things would have been better for us as well as Europe.

But even better if World War One were avoided entirely. Had that been the case, no Bolshevik Revolution. The Tsar was an autocrat, but he wasn't a genocidal monster.

How often I wish I could go back in time and convince the European powers to avoid that most suicidal of wars. The war that set the West on a path of self-destruction.

As a Catholic, I would not say that Martin Luther was necessarily a "key point" in progress. I think the West could have advanced quite nicely had Western Christendom remained intact.

Even better had the Great Schism of 1054 been avoided so that all (or most) of Christendom were intact.

Influencers are mostly youngish females who influence younger females to buy female-oriented products (e.g., soaps, scents, lotions, make-up, clothing, jewelry, and other crap).

[2Th 2:3-8 NIV]

3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.

4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things?

6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time.

***************************************************
* 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work;
* but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so
* till he is taken out of the way.
***************************************************

8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear: I wished only to imply that, without U.S. economic and military might, all of Europe might very well have succumbed to Nazism.
