“Is a Cuttlefish a schooling type of fish, inclined to follow a leader or are they more inclined to act independantly when present as a group?”

Cuttlefish are solitary except when mating, or sometimes they group together for defense when migrating.

Yes, even in the wild an octopus will arrange stones, bones, shells, etc in its lair to make “art”. That’s the origin of the term “Octopus’ garden”, made famous by the Beatles.

Yes, we’re smarter than the average bear. Really, we’re just testing the tester; we have bigger things in mind.

[[Not told was how long it took to ‘teach’ cuttlefish that version of the Marshmallow Test.]]

Exactly- you only need to tell a child once, and they figure it out on their own from there- so i’d say the cuttlefish aren’t as smart as a child- unless they figured it out after say just a few times?

Land surfaces are problematic, so we are working with a certain lab mouse on that; but we will rule the seas!

“..sometimes they group together for defense when migrating”

Sounds like our ‘neighbors’ south of the open border.

The ‘marshmallow test’ might also be interpreted as a trust test, instead of an intelligence test. If I knew the people testing me were liberals, I’d eat the first one immediately.

Well, yes animals have some intelligence without question. But in no way are they like humans. Dogs come close, and they aren't even the smartest animal.

Humans are the only species of animal that can make their own tools. No other species can do that. While some do indeed use objects like a tool, they cannot fashion their own tools. That is what sets us off from the other animals, with regard to intelligence.

The Octopus probably thought switching the objects around was a game he was playing with the Bar owner.
When the Bar owner ‘gave up’ the Octo took that as his own triumph over that ‘Two legged beast on the floor’.
