WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Wednesday appealed to international donors to increase their financial support, saying more money was needed to rebuild schools and homes destroyed by months of Russian bombardment.
Zelenskiy, speaking by video link to finance ministers at the World Bank and International Monetary Fund annual meetings in Washington, said Ukraine needed about $55 billion - $38 billion to cover next year's estimated budget deficit, and another $17 billion to start to rebuild critical infrastructure, including schools, housing and energy facilities.

I’m sure the Bidenreich will insist on an audit of the money we already sent them. /s
Oh. I had people in my family -New York finance people- who said social security was flawed and bound for this mess from its democrat position scheme inception
Medicare? It’s Monopoly money for sick care for every person over 65.
It’s stupid.
Yes. Medicare and social security ponzi. And yet still not as ponzi as sending a hundred billion to a non friendly country’s dictator and not account for any of it. We know his people don’t have heat. So there’s a bit of accounting.
He should be called the “Beggar in Chief”.
Russia needs to end their stupid war and leave Ukraine.
I was watching this interview last night, a British soldier who has returned from Ukraine. I’ve keyed the video to the part of the interview where he talks about American and Canadian volunteers:
https://youtu.be/TCbD4WBqPg4?t=1629
One crack he makes is that some western soldiers are great fighters until they faced a guy on the other side had a bigger gun than they did... and they couldn’t call in an air strike. And, that many from the west refused to stay without hot showers and better food. It’s an well done report on the situation on the ground.
I can’t find the point in the interview, but he talks about the corruption - he’s in a convoy moving to the front lines, when suddenly a couple of trucks filled with MP4s and machine guns just vanish. At some point, they had just turned off and slipped away, and that to do that was impossible without inside help, since there are checkpoints every five miles or so.
It’s one guy’s story, but still, shocking to hear.
He also goes on to say that no one is prepared for the almost constant shelling.
We need to start calling this grifter’s story what it really is. “The Never-ending Story.
A perpetual Beg Fest and Grift.
Why don’t we kick Russian corruption and influence out of Europe?
That will massively benefit US security and the economy. Or maybe we want to surrender to Russia’s latest orgy of violence and Make Russia Great Again?
You and me both. He’s the Flim Flam man.
Let Russia cover the reconstruction with war reparations.
Mr. Z, first win the war before you ask for re-construction. All the news says that Ruzzia is on the brink of failure and surrender to the brave Ukraine Army—with Donbass ready to fall and Crimea ready to surrender to the victorious legions of Democracy armed with advanced American lasers and light sabers. How can Russia win? IMPOSSIBLE!
how much have we sent them already?
and how long before Russia declares war on the USA for using Ukraine as a proxy?
I don’t think we should be giving them ANY taxpayer money, and anything that goes to them from America should be from private individuals or non-govermental entities.
Doesn’t mean I support Russia or their invasion. Not our issue. Let the Europeans send money and arms to Ukraine if they feel threatened.
I bet I’m not the only one sick of hearing this money grabber’s name every single day with his hand out
.................
Right, Russia started the war in 2014 when the forced the Ukraine to attack Eastern Urkaine for 8 years. Oh wait, the was us.
Don’t you normally wait until all the destruction is over with before you start spending $50 BILLION of other peoples money to rebuild a war torn country?
Yes, but if you’re not really going to spend on rebuilding it’s no matter.
