SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - Paul Pelosi attack suspect David DePape briefly appeared in federal court Wednesday, where prosecutors told the court they are engaged in “substantial discovery” of evidence in the case.
DePape, 42, of the San Francisco suburb Richmond, is accused of violently attacking House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband with a hammer at the couple's San Francisco home in October. He also faces charges in state court.

DePape, who remains in custody with the San Francisco County Sheriff’s Department, appeared in court cuffed in orange alongside his lawyer, Angela Chuang from the Office of the Federal Public Defender.
The federal government’s lead attorney Laura Vartain told U.S. District Court Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley that in the last three weeks, prosecutors have been handling “substantial discovery” of evidence for their case. She said they should be able to wrap up that process by the end of the year, and asked to return to court on Feb. 8. Chaung agreed that will be sufficient time to present to the court.
When Corley asked how the feds are coordinating with the state case, Vartain said she speaks with San Francisco prosecutors often.
Corley set a hearing for Feb. 8 to review discovery.
DePape has also pleaded not guilty to all charges brought by the San Francisco County DA, including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, residential burglary, false imprisonment and threatening the life of or causing serious bodily harm to a public official. A preliminary hearing in that case is set for Dec. 14.

Yep, that could be it. It’s a federal case so they are almost guaranteed a conviction if they bring it to trial, and this “discovery” excuse sounds like nonsense (unless DePape was a government asset or foreign asset and they have a lot of files on him to sort through).
So if they don’t want a trial they will probably just overcharge him with attempted murder of a federal official, terrorism, etc, then let him plea bargain down to a lesser offense.
(Maybe they’ll discover why Paul was wearing Nancy’s purple silks.)
I wouldn’t be surprised if something happens to this guy. Lest any embarrassing details go public. /shiny side out
No one is claiming it was a simple breaking and entering.
Winner 🏆🥇🥇🥇🏆🏆🏆
What condoms?
A simple Breaking and Entry? Yeah, right.
No one is claiming it was a simple breaking and entering.
Paul’s back entry was destroyed. That may, or may not, be a crime given the circumstances.
Thanks my FRiend!
He already "talked" a confession straight away the night it happened. And he has a lawyer, so he can talk to her all he wants.
Bull.
Expect reports DePape deported when actually dirt napping somewhere in the Mojave desert.
Mr. Pelosi, were you hit with a hammer in the head?
Could you point out who did it?
Would you tell us what happened in greater detail.
He is at home recovering from a very serious injury. He doesn't owe anyone pictures of him during convalescence.
DePape is liable to kill himself one of these days when the cameras malfunction.
They know the truth is embarrassing
Apparently
On the flip side of that, it was always a hit job and they are working their way through the cut-outs
No one knows whether DePape will testify or choose not to, yet. But, plea or no, he will not be sentenced to merely time served. He tried to kill a man while attempting the kidnapping of a federal official after breaking in to her home.
Maybe they’ll discover where the salami was hidden.
You have to know the other inmates just laugh as they use the revolving door to cycle in and out of the jail while DePape remains locked up all for a “simple” battery for which no one else in that city is ever incarcerated for much longer than it takes for the prosecutor to stamp “dismissed” on the charging documents. I suspect that he will soon disappear and the media will respond “Who?” to any inquiries as to what happened to him.
The worse the scandal, the deeper they have to dig the burial hole...
Naturally, more time is needed...
Except DePape isn't locked up for a simple battery charge.
