The United States booked their place in the last-16 of the World Cup in Qatar with a nerve-shredding 1-0 victory over Iran on Tuesday.
Gregg Berhalter's side went into the clash knowing a win was the only result to take them through, and Christian Pulisic's first-half goal was enough to seal three points.
The US will take on the Netherlands in the last 16 on Saturday.

The center official is the one keeping the official time. He starts and stops his stop watch with every time the play is stopped. That’s why it’s called stoppage time at the end of each half.
GOT TO WATCH OUT FOR THOSE HOLLANDESE PENALTY ACTORS

They can blow each other in the middle of the pitch for all I care. Just more sportsball distractions.
>>Just heard goal scorer for US was taken to hospital.
Christian Pulisic taken to hospital with abdominal injury after sending USMNT through

Abdominal injury? Also reported on the pitch as grabbing the upper leg?
Most likely having the family jewels returned to their proper position.
[I get that they were gassed but the Iranians took advantage and almost got one a few times.]
I understand. I feel strongly you shouldn’t care about it.
I think that might be too small
Yeah, it might be too small with 11 people on the field at any one time. Maybe we should reduce the number of players to 6 or 8 while we’re at changing the game. And maybe we should use American football rules so we can stop and start and take lots of commercials in between so people can go take bathroom breaks or get their beers and brats in between game play. ;)
It makes them feel like he-men to diss others’ interests.
I watched the opening for who sang their national anthems. All the Iranians barely sang the words...but, all did (no doubt because of threats to their families). About 50% of the American team sang the anthem. That disturbed me. So, I’m glad to heard that interviews after the match were positive about USA.
Also, surprised no one commented on the 1 goal made was by a guy named CHRISTIAN! How great it is....yowzaa...
“American “football” = one hour of play and three hours of commercials and time outs.”
I have barely ever watched sports in the last 20 years. But even I know there’s ten times more “play” in 60 minutes of American football than in 90 minutes of soccer. There’s far more coaching, strategy, athleticism, action, tension, and scoring in American football than in soccer.
I don’t watch either sport, but I know which one is the truly better game - and the truly better AMERICAN game.
I hope our team does well, but if not a single person in America played soccer or watched it what of any real importance would we lose?
They do have a line for offsides...the Halfway Line. You can't be offside in your own half of the field.
No kidding. Half the posters in here are trying to re-write the rules of the world's most popular sport to make it more palatable to them, lol. If they don't like it, they should simply ignore it like they do for 47 out of 48 months every four years.
I remember when this website used to be pro-America.
