I listen when this man talks. About a year and a half ago, my ankle and foot still weren’t right even after two or three doctors and two MRI’s. I was paying a PT on my own and he finally said that he needed to refer me to a specialist so that he would know exactly what to work on. He referred me to the big orthopedic clinic/hospital in Knoxville and the ankle specialist there.
I had more x-rays and two more MRI’s and she finally decided to have a nerve conduction test done on that leg and ankle since the leg muscle was weak and atrophied. My husband mentioned my appointment for the nerve test to his group on the radio because I was worried about that one. The preacher told him he would pray and get back to us the next day.
The next morning, he came back and said, “tell your wife the leg and ankle/foot will be fine, and they won’t find anything that requires surgery”.
After the nerve test she said that the MRI’s showed that the tendons had been torn but not ruptured and had healed too short. She said that the nerve test showed I still had communication between the nerves and the muscles, no compartment issues, but one muscle wasn’t getting enough signal and was atrophied. She said that in young people, and especially young athletes, that they can do surgery to lengthen the tendons, but that physical therapy can slowly stretch them in my case since she doesn’t recommend surgery on the lower leg/ankle in a person my age unless there is no choice. She said that PT would make that muscle start working again by stretching the tendons and allow it to work.
So, I have been doing the PT and getting better. No surgery. Nothing major. I do have some arthritis in the ankle now but not as much as most people my age.
He does sound like someone to listen to. I believe some people (very few) have that gift.
