Mount Holyoke grad deprogrammed from women-only woke culture
New York Post ^ | November 26, 2022 | Dana Kennedy

Annabella Rockwell led a life of privilege even before she entered posh Mount Holyoke College in rural South Hadley, Mass. in 2011. The heiress to a pharmaceutical fortune, she grew up on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, summered in Newport, RI, and later moved with her family to Palm Beach, Fla.

A competitive figure skater who lived abroad for a time in Germany as well as Hong Kong, Rockwell chose Mount Holyoke for its academic rigor and prestige. At the time, she said, she’d grown up in a home with “traditional” values but considered herself open-minded.

“I was so excited about going to this renowned, respected school in Massachusetts,” she said. “I literally arrived there bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, I was just so happy.”

But she told The Post she wound up “totally indoctrinated” into viewing the world as a toxic patriarchy and herself as an oppressed victim — and eventually had to be deprogrammed.

Rockwell, now 29, said she was initially shocked by how aggressively anti-male the students and professors were when she settled in at the women-only school, founded in 1837. She was also taken aback by a serious drinking culture and freshman campus rituals that, she said, were designed to shrug off gender roles — such as cutting your hair into what is called the “MoHo chop.” (Rockwell did not do this.)

But it wasn’t until her junior year, when she took a Gender Studies class, that she said she was turned upside down.

“This professor tells me about the patriarchy,” Rockwell told The Post. ” I barely knew what the word meant. I didn’t know what she was talking about. I wasn’t someone that into feminism. I just knew that I felt I had always been free to do what I wanted. I never experienced sexism.

I am an alum of MHC. Back in the 70’s, the concept of free speech was becoming more limited with each year. Conservatives (probably one-in-four) were tolerated. I can see how they now are shunned. Progressive recruitment wasn’t a choice—it was becoming the only road taken. The drinking was no big deal (as it is at most colleges) and the smell of pot was heavy in every dorm. In fact, the Simpsons did a show on the Seven Sisters and Smith was noted for its lesbianism and MHC for its booze. The real recruitment I see there now is for homosexuality and transgenderism. They get a lot of smart girls with limited experience with men and dating, so being drawn toward a women’s college seems like a natural progression in the lesbian end-game.

I am starting to believe it’s in the Dem playbook to have civil and social unrest which is amplified by the liars in professional media to try to make Dem progressives to look like the cure. A weary and fearful electorate will vote for people preaching “solutions” to problems.
One thing I noticed....when Trump was president there were huge wildfires in California almost every year....since Biden “assumed” office....no huge wildfires. Coincidence? Remember l.a.riots in 1992? Riots in 2019 and 2020? Coincidence? Who was running for president in 1992? Hmmm...

This is down the street from my very conservative widow aunt.

Lovely place, but doesn’t surprise me one bit that any college is totally NAZI PC.

Yes and no.

Don’t for a second believe it’s all because of politicos who control strings.

LOTS of people organically think and feel this way. They spontaneously combust on their own. They don’t need to be told.

Half the population really is this entitled/spoiled/treasonous/hateful/evil.

It’s not simply theater controlled by some politicos. How do you think the politicians got there?

Its a time-tested political strategy to grab power for the state, attack established order and tradition, and push people into accepting radical change. From France's Jacobins, to Hitler's Brownshirts to Mao's Red Guards. Its different from grass-roots revolutionary change, because its initiated by those in power, although its portrayed as grass-roots. BLM fits the bill entirely.

Of course, such a movement must be secretly protected and controlled by law enforcement. Hence Eric Holder's key role in the formation of BLM.

They spontaneously combust on their own. They don’t need to be told.

Also "yes and no."

Take Michael Brown or George Floyd as examples. Black men are killed by police every day in America. Its unavoidable in a country of 350 million people. Many under difficult and seemingly inexplicable circumstances. Why did we focus so closely on these two men?

And also, for two years under Biden, we have not heard of one such incident in the media. Strange?

TPTB on the political left and DOJ need only choose one, when it suits their purpose, mold the narrative, and amplify it - and we will kick off all over again.

First I’ve heard that the Progs were into heavy drinking. I passed into young adulthood when the weed was preferred to the hop or the grape.

“This ridiculous institution exists only because productive, white men created wealth and gave it huge sums of money.”

That’s true about most institutions - they were founded and funded by rich, generous, “patriarchal” white men, and they’re all turning against them.

Same with all the technologies invented by white men who have freed women from the burden of household chores, they have given women the time to bitch and moan about patriarchy rather than be appreciative of them.

As the old saying, no good deed goes unpunished.

“Feminism exists only because the Patriarchy allows it to.”

Not only does it allow it, but it is responsible for its birth.

Without the technology created by white men that lifted so many of the time consuming household burdens that women bore, they wouldn’t have the time to think about feminism nonsense.

It’s actually the Marxist playbook. Marx (and his ilk) saw the world as made up of oppressors and oppressed. So it’s a world of permanent injustice. And saviors like him are so pained by such injustices that they are moved to come to the rescue of the oppressed and destroy the oppressors and fight for “equity”.

They are forever looking for “victim groups” because it reinforces their world view.

In Marx’s time it was the proletariats, the working class that was the oppressed group and the upper class were the oppressors. That turned out to be unconvincing because the members of those two classes moved from one to the other quite often.

So they had to come up with a new oppressed group, one that would be seen as “permanently oppressed”. The blacks filled that bill to a T. And later new victim groups were discovered - illegals, homosexuals, delusionals, women...

And so the Rat party has morphed into a Marxist party. One who sees everything through the oppressor/oppressed prism.

I think it's the faculty that is the problem. North Hampton is full of angry lesbians and lefty progressive teachers. You won't find a town in America with more BLM and LGBT flags even though the black population is almost nil.Bunch of virtue signaling lefties.

It just occurred to me. This is her apology tour. Soon we will hear of her announcing her run for political office as... a republican!
