Just watched Part 2 of season 5 (for the second time) where Dutton gets sworn in as governor. Did anyone notice the following: Singing of the National Anthem was MUTED. Dutton, Beth and the new Senator did not cover their heart or make any effort to display their allegiance to our country during the singing of the National Anthem.
We all know that Kevin Costner is a liberal. But now, we also know that Taylor Caldwell is one as well. Kelly Reilly, well, she's just an import.
I’ve never been one to put my hand over my heart for the national anthem. Is it maybe a regional thing?
The pledge, absolutely, the anthem, never.
This REALLY pisses me off...always has. Most professional athletes would be unemployed in a different country.
The prequel, 1883, is mind numbing dreck. The story focuses on a petulant, self involved 18 year old woman who falls in love with “loving.” Her numerous musings are insipid like a stoned first year philosophy major who thinks that they are deep..
The family hires murderous cowboys, has a prostitute daughter and hates the son they adopted. I’m not sure this country want’s their allegiance.
“I wanted so much to get into this series.”
We did, too. After about Episode 3 of Season 1, we pulled the plug.
I’ve been following politics and going to hockey games since the early 70s. Back then and even now, people only covered their hearts for the Pledge of Allegiance and not our National Anthem.
Not sure what conservatives see in the show.
I quit watching during the first season - got tired of being subject to woke rants from the malcontent Indian wench.
The writing was awful and the Army vet character was not believable.
So the Californians who live in Bozeman or the Montanans who live in Bozeman have X’d out Dutton brand?
“ I don’t watch this garbage. Suffered through the opening season first episode. That was enough for me.”
Same.
It’s pornographic and it’s garbage.
I dont believe either one of you.
Other than a few shitbag hippies everyone that can stand stands and puts their hand over their hearts and faces the flag. Men, no hats. Veterans salute.

The native Bozemanites mostly. There’s a lot of of half facetious, half true belief that Yellowstone has caused tons of people to move here. It portrays kind of a caricature of what it’s like to live here and being a town with tons of tourist a lot of people visiting, especially New Yorkers and Californians, wear ten gallon, big scarves and tuck their jeans in their boots. Bozeman is far more ‘outdoorsman’ than cowboy culture these days, though some of that is here. Ranch country is more to the east of us. We are hunters, fishermen, back country hikers, etc. It’s more mountain culture here.
Thx for the review...I have conservative friends who love it...I spent my 17th summer working in Yellowstone way back when...the clips I’ve seen do not make me want to supplant my memories.
PS. I couldn’t watch beyond the first season. Not much for TV anyway.
LOL...and I thought I was the only one with the opinion that 1883 was a boring series. The young girls musings were definitely insipid a you say...:)
Not much impressed with Yellowstone either. Rich people playing rich people’s games...how boring. Don’t plan on watching this season of it.
Don’t bother watching “Succession” either. Same kind of thing - no likeable characters, non-stop filthy language, bad writing, etc.
In the late 70s I made it to Yellowstone several years in a row during the last weekend it was open. Watched Old Faithful by myself. One park ranger was so bored he invited my friends and I to eat lunch with him and look at slides. I loved it.
Last time I was back was around 2000, in the summer. YUCK! Packed, long lines. Was better off with my memories.
Two things:
1) Luckily, reality isn’t governed by what you believe.
2). The National Anthem at today’s Giants v Dallas game is evidence that the vast majority of people don’t put their hands over their hearts while the anthem is playing.
Tough crowd here. The silence during the national anthem might be for dramatic effect. 1883 captured the hardship of wagon train emigration. Sheridan already alluded to the fact that Montana is at a competitive disadvantage for cattle raising compared to Texas. It’s inevitable that they sell off most of the ranch. What else are you watching? The Bachelor?
I’ve read this thread down to post 38. I’m at a loss as to what to say. What a bunch of crap from FR.
Go in winter...my husband and I spent 5 days cross country skiing (package) there about 15 years ago...lot less people.
