Disney 'fired woke CEO Bob Chapek after colleagues including CFO complained he was unfit for the job: Axed boss was "blindsided" by dismissal and shock return of his predecessor Bob Iger'

Disney fired its CEO Bob Chapek after receiving several internal complaints from senior staffers that the exec was running the company into the ground, people familiar with the matter have revealed.

Among those to air such concerns was Disney's Chief Financial Officer Christine McCarty, who the insiders said was among many to find Chapek, 62, unfit for the role, CNBC reported.

The company's board of directors acted almost immediately after receiving the complaints, reaching out to his predecessor and former mentor Bob Iger, 71, Friday to come out of retirement and replace a man he less than a year ago touted as his successor.

The shakeup reportedly left Chapek 'blindsided,' the sources said, bringing his 11-month tenure as head exec to a premature close after a series of errors and woke controversies cratered the firm's share price.

Brass from the company announced the change in a statement Sunday night, but did not provide a specific reason for Chapek's dismissal.

The revelation regarding senior leadership's dissatisfaction with the short-lived CEO coincides with previous reports of staffers alleging Chapek had mishandled the company since assuming the position in February.

Since then, Disney share prices have fallen drastically, by roughly 40 percent so far this year - losses further compounded by a more than $10billion deficit incurred during the pandemic. Disney shares rocketed by six per cent by the closing bell Monday, as investor hopes grew that the return of Iger would signal a more stable period for the scandalized corporation.

The company's poor performance under Chapek has been blamed on factors ranging from an unsuccessful pivot to the streaming sphere with Disney+, and his hesitance to speak out against a Florida bill that banned LGBTQ discussions for students younger than 10.

Maybe. Maybe not:

...his hesitance to speak out against a Florida bill that banned LGBTQ discussions for students younger than 10.

It'd be ironic if he were fired for not being woke enough.

Overpriced.

Should change the park names to Groomerville.

Groomerland.

Groomer World.

Grooming, Gender Mutilation, Abortion promoting and Attraction Dysphoria reduce the Normal population that would be produced over the next decades.

Makes a lot of nice space for the Replacement Player Invaders.

He was. Reading between the lines, he was tossed because of a coup by his exec teams. He had clearly tried to end prior CEO Bob Iger's 'all woke, all the time' policies. He fired a couple of super woke execs and the rest of the woke execs didn't like it. He also hesitated to kiss gay butts over the Florida stuff and wanted to stay out of politics which the woke staff HATES. The stock was down because Disney+ is a train wreck, the parks lost a tone due to COVID, and the super woke movies are all under performing. Most of this was all put into motion by the prior CEO who retired when he saw that COVID was going to wreck the company's profits. But between that and the exec staff conducting a covert palace coup his goose was cooked.

What's ironic is that the guy who is taking over now is the guy who handed him that excrement sandwich to run in the first place.

That’s my interpretation.

One year in a corporation is hardly enough to turn around projects already greenlighted.

He may be the scapegoat to rid them of an obstacle to their perversions.

Hold your hats before buying Disney stocks.

Corporate politics is important, maybe Bob Iger can be woke but he's willing to fire woke staff if they are costing Disney money.

”Hold your hats before buying Disney stocks.”

Exactly my assessment. Disney parks are built around unwoke American traditions. Letting customers soak in those traditions is their product. The same is true of many of Disney’s productions. To me they look like a prime candidate to split the company. It might even be a good idea to make the woke part choose a new name.

I find the idea of investing in such a valuable brand at bargain prices enticing. I would need some confidence that they aren’t going to destroy the brand.

Smith & Wesson, Colt, and Ruger all damaged their brands by losing sight of who were their customers and who weren’t.

Disney is not going to suffer even if they remain completely woke. Half of USA is woke and right there that is 150 million Americans already.

I’m thinking that many cake shop owner’s resent being forced by cancel culture to bake cakes for people who despise the religion they cling to.

Not necessarily. Iger start or turned a blind eye to the woke movement that has gripped Disney’s profits and reputation.

I doubt it, they’re just replacing one cog in their perversion machine with another. Disney will continue unhindered into its descent into perversion because that is where they are trying to drag the country.

“The company’s poor performance under Chapek has been blamed on . . . his hesitance to speak out against a Florida bill that banned LGBTQ discussions for students younger than 10.”

That’s some classic gaslighting right there. There was much more backlash against Disney for going woke than a small minority of employees complaining that Chapek was not as loud as they were speaking out on the ban on childhood grooming. The bottom line reflected the backlash.

say goodbye to the old woke boss, say hello to the new woke boss ... iger initiated most of the woke stuff right before he left 11 months ago and was the one who went after desantis hammer and tongs in the first place ... Chapek was criticized by the wokesters in disney when he initially refused to perpetuate the desantis jihad ... it’ll be interesting to see if iger does an about face, or accelerates disney’s sprint down the woke road of ruin ...
