There are three government narratives pushed today that are not real: (1) fraud-free elections, (2) a looming climate apocalypse, and (3) a COVID health emergency requiring total government control. If you see through only one, then you're not looking hard enough. Or as Bill Engvall might say, "If you now believe COVID is mostly a hoax but are still terrified of global warming, here's your sign." Conversely, if you do see through them, you're likely being censored for expressing those points of view.

Here's our impasse: when governments claim to have a monopoly on truth, then citizens are expected to accept preposterous fantasies, no matter how much opposing evidence they might see. The narrative is absolute. Dissent is forbidden. Total obedience is the objective. Last century, free Westerners understood these features as telltale signs of totalitarianism. Today, much less free Westerners have been taught to embrace — without scrutiny or wisdom — the government's fairy tales as part of our required, if not sacred, deference to the bureaucratic State's cult of expertise. Whether citizens grasp this shift in individual freedom or not, the general rule handed down from governments is stark yet succinct: ask us no questions, and we will tell you no lies!

Westerners desperately need to reboot their systems of government before those systems of government delete the public's power to make changes ever again. It is not possible for political leaders to claim that their countries support personal freedom when they snatch that freedom away at the first sneeze, cow fart, or unapproved tweet. It is not logical for governments to claim that they protect "democracy" when armies of unelected permanent bureaucrats run the modern State. It is not reasonable for Western nations to claim that they cherish "free thinking" and "free expression" when their technocratic surveillance

Great article. But it assumes that the enemy that is pushing totalitarianism is the State.

I'm not saying the State doesn't have totalitarianist tendencies, but there is another group just as determined if not more so.

The mass formation/hypnotized mob of zombies that is cramming its Woke Agenda down the throats of our culture and almost every institution/organization in the country.

In fact, some have suggested that the government itself (the State) is under the sway of this mob and not the other way around.

The questions are, where did this mob come from (including how did it form), exactly what is it, and how do we kill it?

We kill it when we recognize that today's DemocRAT party is really the Communist Party, Joe McCarthy was right, and we make Communist Party affiliation punishable by permanent exclusion from American political life.

Very true, but I think it's even bigger than the Democrat Party (though that is certainly a major branch of it). It's even bigger than politics.

It has engulfed churches (like the United Methodist Church lately) and tiny little elementary schools out in the middle of nowhere. It has pushed corporations to embrace it even though it has significantly and negatively impacted their bottom line.

According to Prof Mattias Desmet, it is a giant brainwashed cult (a "mass formation") that, though helped along by organizations and movements, has taken on a life of its own. Having read his book, The Psychology of Totalitarianism, twice (in Audible) and now working through the hardcover carefully, I tend to agree.

I have been calling it Woke World lately. That said, it may even be bigger than just the Woke movement.

Those who belong to it are fully indoctrinated to the point of hypnosis. They are like zombies, blocking out all opinions that disagree with theirs...even blocking out reality itself.

It's a kind of madness that one might have encountered in Germany starting in the 1920s.

Don’t fight it. The elite really needs to kill off billions of us. The middle class has been living way to high on the hog with their cars, air conditioning, winter heating, meat diet, et c. In 2030, nobody will own anything and be happy eating bugs once they’ve killed off billions of us in the global dictatorship by the elite.

We are facing a looming superpower, the WEF and all are joining in compact to enslave us all. It is easy to see if you have a certain mindset. Mine I guess, but lots of others. SAVE the PLANET, TAKE THE SHOT, MEN CAN GET PREGNANT. “When you get people to accept absurdities, you can get them to commit atrocities.” Aleksandr Solzenietzn or another genius, but it is a prescient quote.
