I’ll add:
Louisiana Purchase (1803)- perhaps the least appreciated significant date in our history.
Alamo
Fort Sumter (start vs your finish)
USS Maine (1898) (which led to our global possessions from Spain)
9-11
S&L and Lehman Brothers (though I think the latter is more significant)

(some would argue the Titanic due to the loss of those bankers opposed to the Fed.)
