Donald Trump is my favorite President, even more so than Ronald Reagan.
However, I think I’m moving on from him.
I like him in the role of a clarion-calling standard bearer, and his presidency was the best I have ever seen.
I don’t like him in terms of his failure to be a team player. I’m not even sure I like him as a kingmaker. Calling out numbers to make him look good, in a severely-disappointing election shows me he doesn’t care about the boots on the ground, but only how he looks.
Reagan faced the same Establishment hate and Media mocking, but he had a great way of playful rebuttal, with a twinkle in his eye and a little smile. America loved that. All the attacks mustered against him, failed, because he was able to gently turn it around on his attacker with a witty quip or a well thought out fact.
Reagan was also the author of the phrase, the 11th commandment, which was “Thou shall not attack a fellow Republican.”
Trump, on the other hand, has a serious ego problem. He cannot resist getting into a public verbal fight with anyone who criticizes him. While this was fresh and new in 2016, and propelled him into the presidency, it doesn’t work in 2022.
Also, the way Trump fights back is not nearly as good as Reagan’s style. Trump hasn’t got the charm of Reagan, and it’s beginning to hurt our side.
It is for these reasons that I must move on from Donald Trump. Sir, thank you for your incredibly wonderful service in 2016 through 2020. You made those years prosperous and sane. But it is time to move on.
I’m likely to get a ton of flak for this post. That’s okay, I can take it.
Trust The Plan, dammit!
No flak from me. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.
Trump may very well be trying to keep people (us) motivated.
copy/pasted here again because this thread needs the same clarity as the the other one...

Forever the cry for a king to save us, as though one man can change all of our Nation’s evil into good. He can’t.
The monday morning whimperers here are ONLY creating division.
The entrenched leftist government employees, corrupt judicial system, rigged elections in leftist cities, corrupt DC, CIA and FBI is a powerful machine and there is no “David” with five smooth stones, who can execute this evil monster.
The real battles are at the State level as states fight against this fedgov monster and refuse to comply with it’s demands. THIS is the front line of the true battle to save this Republic. At a lesser level, the farm team here is in local elections to incrementally gain sane, conservative, Constitutional States.
This recent nonsense cry of; “it’s this one man, or it’s that one man who will save us” is simply ignorant banter, because there IS NO ONE king who is able to will save us., except the King of kings and Lord of lords. PERIOD.
This current bruised feelings banter serves nothing but to divide conservatives and make us look like petulant little crybaby piss ants (YES, that’s a real kind of ant) whining because the “king” failed us.
Trump did more for us and scrificed more for this Nation than every poster on this board COMBINED, yet here you are whimpering in your morning fruit loops.
What did YOU do to build local candidates to support the farm teams which rise to change your State TO conservative? Nothing? ...then sit down and eat your soggy cereal and shut up.
Trump, when POTUS, did more for our cause than any preceeding man in the office in his attempt to crush the globalist march (and this IS an evil globalist attempt to take over our nation) upon us. Yet the piss ants are pouting.
FL loves our governor because he has stood in the stead and fought a great fight for our State and we Floridians want him RIGHT HERE. We, at local levels turned our state and counties red by working the farm teams. How much better that the cybabies get off their back side and change their own State to fight for themselves as we have!?!
( ((riiiinnngg)) ) CLUE PHONE...!
There is no king coming to save us and no king can, save the One true King and He isn’t running for office.
Grow up whiners!
...and get to work.
...THAT IS ALL
(for those in RioLinda, this means I will not banter with replies. I made my point here and “that is all”)
Trump! DeSantis! Go ahead and develop your clever arguments for either based on who you calculate can win the next general, or based on polls, or independent voter preferences, or your genius political mind. Then argue and fight it out for the next two years like that really f’ing matters. It’s exactly what they want you to do. It’s what they always want. Left vs Right. Trump vs DeSantis. It all just keeps you from focusing on the real issue... the heart of it all... which is that it doesn’t f’ing matter if it’s Trump or DeSantis. The same vote fraud, with both machines and mail-in ballots, that occurred in 2020 (and, of course, in previous years) is still alive and well in 2022. More powerful than ever, in my opinion. And it will manifest again in 2024. Who’s going to win? Whomever the deep state or globalist cabal or whatever evil entity is really behind the rigging chooses to install next, that will be your next President, friend. But pay no mind to all that. Just keep making your arguments for DeSantis, or Trump, because that’s what is really, truly, the most important issue facing our Republic, dontcha know.
Lastly, “Trump hasn’t got the charm of Reagan...”
We don’t need any charm at this point. We need someone who punches back twice as hard.
By crapping on his peers?
Never said he was without mistake, GingisK. Show me a man (or woman) who is.
Certain mistakes are very indicative of a man’s soul. Trump is mostly for Trump.
He lead us to lockdowns, masking, travel restrictions and big Parma vax. So wants another democrat enabler. He will bow to the dems if they threaten his vanity. He showed his true colors during covid. Even crazier, he complains about stolen election, but he presided over mail in ballots.
Who wants more of that and criminals on the streets due to “reform”.
What did you think of his presidency?
You said it right, Laz.
Except I would most definitely not say he is my favorite president. For the reasons you cite…Trump burns bridges and needs to remove foot from mouth constantly. Of course, he had some great ideas but most of what he did was by fascist fiat, the EO. Which is torn apart easily. Never mind his patchy past.
As far as behavior, Reagan was too nice a guy and he was Teflon because everyone knew he WAS a nice guy, never mind his genius retorts in terms of “tone”, etc. Reagan was impossible to hate….and basically anyone who did or seemed to, was kind of considered a nut job.
Anybody who seeks to lead Republican party will meet the same treatment and fate faced by Trump. Democrat/Deep State establishment will subject that person to 24/7 demonization, politicization of every little thing, witch-hunt and character assassination, and RINO will join the fray such that he will end up fighting his own RINO/NeoCon wing of the party besides Democrat establishment and Deep State. What makes you think giving up on current GOP leader will not invite same the fate on new GOP leader? Trump is a fighter. Why would you give up on a fighter in favor of someone who talks conservative but compromises and surrenders to Democrat establishment? GOP is fractured due to RINO and Neocons. It is too easy to blame Trump.
“So I think it’s on all of these issues, but clearly, the Republican establishment view that you need open borders and amnesty to appeal to Hispanic voters in the United States is dead wrong,” he added. “It was wrong then, and it has clearly been proven to be wrong now.”
DeSantis: GOP Establishment ‘Dead Wrong’ You Need Open Borders, Amnesty to Win Hispanic Vote
Same
Well said.
Pardon my ignorance, but wtf is the point you are trying to make?
Hi there, foreigner! Hey, I'm not sure what 'windbag' means in your country, but in mine, it means "excessively wordy". I am anything but that!
Hey, tell ya what, foreigner, you go worry about the incredible socialism in your country, and I'll try to prevent my country from becoming like yours.
Hugs and kisses,
Laz
Completely agree.
Also, after reading many others comments, I’m heartened with the rational thinking that yet still prevails at FR.
There are the usual OG’s shaking their fists from their porch chairs, but that’s to be expected.
“During an appearance on FNC’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” DeSantis discussed this potential outcome, saying that his success there was proof you did not need to “move left” on borders and amnesty to win the Hispanic vote.”
Agree with Laz 100%.
