They are not usually compression socks though they may fit snugly. If he has swelling problems it is easy to discern. Just place your finger near his ankle(s) and if there is springiness or ‘give’ then it is easy to see. Swelling in the lower limbs is an indication of circulation problems. If he is truly having problems with swelling (edema) then they would have prescribed Lasix or something similar.

Sounds as if he is simply being cantankerous, which is not unusual.

Sounds as though they developed pneumonia, they likely need Azithromycin. Two good friends got covid, around the time we did in late winter. They got the lung stuff and as soon as they added zithro they got better right away.
