Has Anyone Followed the Inspector Morse Series? Inspector Morse, Lewis, and Endeavour? Thoughts?
I have been overwhelmed with the series. to the point that I have purchased the DVDS. I have never felt television to fit. this fits.
your take?
All three are great favorites of mine.
read them all at least a couple of times since 5th grade.
You know who wrote good potboilers?
John MacDonald
Lawrence Sanders
Both evoked a different time and place and one learned from them.
My wife's explanation for that (and I agree) is that the British actors and actresses are real people, pudgy, thin, gangly, teeth as grown, hair style askew, and all the variations of people. The Hollywood/TV Land actors are all alike -- cookie cutter perfection. Therefore, acting ability takes precedence over appearance alone.
I havent found any Korean shows that I like and know nothing about the Chinese shows. I will have to explore
I usually don’t, but this series works for me in a way many do not.
Yes.
they went woke toward the end
the costume designer on Poriot had fun, I swear no woman on the show wore the same outfit for two scenes. All that sumptuous fur and wood!
Inspector Morse series seemed a little trite, and of much lower production quality.
morse was at least 10 years prior. the three of them together is better than each individually.
different agenda I think
I just heard about that. Evidently there are sprinkled many connectors among the series that the alert view can find.
endeavour answers some of that. Shows what happened when his personality and the system he was in and the women in his life all interacted.
I will, I never heard of it
Haven’t run into it yet.

Yep, watched all of the Endeavour series. I’ll move on the the others pretty soon.
Suggest:
Broadchurch & Hidden. First two seasons of both are great, the third seasons are kind of average, but worth watching.
George Gently - if you liked Foyle’s War, you might like this.
Mystery Road (Australia) is good, the series with Judy Davis is great, the other series and related movies are ok.
I agree. In addition, in the UK actors and actresses move amongst TV, theater, and film.
Endeavor is a the best television series I’ve ever seen, with brilliant writing, complex plots, great acting, and high production values. The Inspector Morse series is also good, and the Morse character is closer to Colin Dexter’s books; the production values show their age and the budgets were likely much smaller. I like Inspector Lewis, but it’s written around the idea that he succeeds by less exalted means than Morse — I miss the intellectual angles that Morse bought to the table.
I used to watch Inspector Morse. Is it still running?
