Hmmm, this seems like a huge safety issue.

but light flashing! (I guess the train does not slow-down, change lane, or stop in these situations)

Maybe the cop was still in Training.
Or, maybe he just lost his Train of Thought.

I smell a YUUUGE settlement for Ms. Yareni Rios-Gonzalez! She’ll get enough from the county, that she can hire a chauffeur, so she never has to worry about a road rage charge ever again!
Doesn’t the Platteville Police Department teach their Officers about traffic safety? Basic common sense would suggest that a train-police cruiser collision would turn out far worse for the cop car than the train.

Pretty good considering how early it is.

Platteville Police Chief Carl Dwyer said the officer who parked on the railroad tracks has been placed on paid administrative leave pending investigation by the CBI. Officer Dumb bunny should have already been fired.
Platteville is a tiny town with no money. The settlement costs will probably bankrupt them. I suppose the Weld County Sherrif department can take over the police functions. Maybe that would be for the best anyway.

How late in training is the "Don't Park on Railroad Tracks" Block?

A manifestation of a typical cop mentality that rules are for other people to follow.

What dipwad of a cop would park his car on railroad tracks???
Dude needs to go to jail.

These bleeps didn’t even get up to “traffic safety.” Not seeing what “traffic” was involved. But they should have covered the chapter about using railroad tracks as a parking lot. And how is it that a local cop doesn’t know that trains come thru, oh, every now and then?
