That was my thought as well.
No wind, a cool day so no thermals that area. But how do they anchor the rifle? Is anything except plain sandbags “allowed” for a world record attemp?
Yep. It’s impressive, but when you can re-azimuth after each shot, it means you can eventually hit the target, if you get enough tries.
I’ll also bet it was a pretty calm wind, if any...
Piece of cake! I did that during BCT in ‘69 qualifying with the M-14.
Just MHO; but if you're consistently accurate out to about 500 yards, you're pretty proficient, I'd say.

What was the size of that 69-shot group? Or even the best 50?
Learned something new today… didn’t know BCT quals were still done with M-14’s in ‘69. Figured it would’ve switched by ‘68 or so.
As a long range guy, this is neither impressive nor useful.
Approximately 6.2 seconds of arc.
