Scott Frost’s time at Nebraska has come to an end.
Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts announced Sunday that the school has fired Frost as head coach just three games into his fifth season on the job.
The move comes on the heels of a 45-42 home loss to Georgia Southern that dropped the Huskers to 1-2 on the season and 16-31 overall with Frost as head coach. On top of that, the loss put the Huskers at an unfathomable 5-22 in one-possession games under Frost.

All the major schools have lots of money for NIL deals.
As for the Nebraska brand...when’s the last time Nebraska was winning big? It was over 20 years ago. The kids being recruited today are 17-18 years old. Nebraska has been bad all their lives. Believe me as a Gator, I know how fast a name brand can fade in recruits’ minds if you stop winning big. We’ve been trying to rebuild our name brand ever since Muschamp drove the program into the ditch over a decade ago.
I think he meant John Blake. A beloved former player who replaced Gary Gibbs who was also a former player. Gibbs was decent as a head coach, but he replaced the King…Barry Switzer…so he had a tough act to follow. After he was fired, OU hired Blake. He was a dismal failure. He nearly killed the OU program. But then we got Bob Stoops. And he turned it around fast. Our current HFC is Brent Venables…but I wouldn’t call him a prodigal son. He did not play at Oklahoma. He was an assistant under Stoops.
Texas A&M next?
Or Nebraska?
That’s a good point, you have to have an identity and then go out and recruit your players that fit that identity instead of just trying to get the most 4 or 5 starred players. Look at where all those highly rated recruiting classes have gotten Jimbo at Texas A&M.
Bama was a dumpster fire before Saban.
When Will Muschamp was hired to replace Steve Spurrier, in his first press conference he announced he was going to install a downhill power running team, I knew right then he would fail.
Steve Spurrier won big at UF by passing the ball and scoring a lot points, the state of Florida is loaded with high school players who want to play that style, UF hasn’t been the same ever since.
When Tom Osborne retired, and Nebraska went away from their history, they started to go downhill.
I give Foley full credit for Donovan and for Sully. Frankly, I don’t care about anything beyond those two sports and football and I’d say my care is 90% football and those other two combined maybe 10%. I’m a lifelong fan and alum and though some will decry my view, that is typical for most of our fans and alums. Its basically all about football. Spending resources elsewhere while not keeping up with the Joneses in football and not winning big in football is not acceptable.
Foley’s priorities were all wrong. I am willing to bet right now that the vast majority of fans and alums agree with me on that.
You’re probably right, but what bothered me was the body language on him. You have to shrug it off, and he got spooked by that first INT, which was just a great defensive play.
Oh yeah, we lost on Saturday to Oklahoma State, 34-17. It was a nationally televised game on ESPN and boy did we look bad. 🤬
Auburn
I’m sorry to say it because he’s a good guy, a good citizen, and a good teammate but.......Emory Jones. He’s just not a legit QB. 14 of 36 ain’t gonna cut it. That kind of thing is typical for him. Believe me, we Gators saw it up close and know he’s just not a legit QB.
Ricky Pearsall looks like a good one.
Ah you got another wonderful Mullen product for your QB.
And didn’t Dak look good last night, LOL?
I meant Nevada.
You know, I really wish Texas would have beat Bama, since their kicker’s last name is “Auburn”.
Who is “Incarnate Word”?
Have you seen early highlights of PSU frosh Drew Allar? Every bit of 6’5” 240 lbs. and throws it like few others. I feel blessed to be able to watch him for the next few years. Franklin can certainly recruit, but competent play calling is still out there somewhere.
There were serious shockers over the weekend: Marshall over Notre Dame and App State over Texas A&M to name a couple.
I too am a lifelong fan and Alum, Foley ended his career with Football in the toilet, he deserves scorn for that and his failure to keep up with facilities also was terrible, I’ll not argue that point.
I take the view that he had some major success at UF and some major failures, so I don’t dump on him for his overall performance, but it was his time to leave and I’m glad he’s gone.
