Scott Frost’s time at Nebraska has come to an end.
Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts announced Sunday that the school has fired Frost as head coach just three games into his fifth season on the job.
The move comes on the heels of a 45-42 home loss to Georgia Southern that dropped the Huskers to 1-2 on the season and 16-31 overall with Frost as head coach. On top of that, the loss put the Huskers at an unfathomable 5-22 in one-possession games under Frost.

This is not a big surprise.
I am double glad this weekend. My brother’s K-State Wildcats gave the Mizzou boys a football beatdown to match the round-ball beatdown my Jayhawks gave them last year and my Jayhawks beat WV to be 2-0 for the first time in eleven years. Good day for the Sunflower contingent.
Good theory. I'll go with that. Uncle Tom is rolling in his grave.
Jeremy Foley hired multiple head coaches at UF, Ron Zook, Will Muschamp and Jim McClewain, all colossal busts, he did hire Urban Meyer and he did hire Billy Donovan and the current baseball coach who all won national titles, overall his record is spotty at best.
We are still suffering, Nebraska went in the tank when they went away from what they are, a power running team where they dominated teams on the line of scrimmage, they tried to go spread offense and passing and have failed since Osborne retired.
You mean our funny looking current coach.
Jury is still out on him but the SEC move has soured me on OU totally.
Zac would be a good dark horse, but agree that isn’t likely. I think Trev Alberts will target a big time name like Aranda, Urban, O’Brien, Kiffin...someone who’s actually had Power 5 success. I don’t see D’Antonio as even on the list (at least I hope not).
Agree. They also greatly benefited from no scholarship limitations - which allowed them to put countless TX players on scholarships just to keep them off UT and OK rosters.
Today, there are half a dozen programs in TX (like Baylor and Houston) in addition to UT and OK where blue chip players would prefer to play.
My mistake sorry.
Was Foley really the one who decided to hire Urban Meyer or was it his former boss Bernie Machen who leaned on Foley to hire Urban Meyer and who did a lot to sell Meyer on taking the UF job over the Notre Dame job?
PS. I couldn’t even bear to listen to the show Saturday night. I knew the kind of drunks and idiots who were going to call in to spew their stupidity and I knew you were going to ream them out for it. LOL! We’re gonna live and die on the development of a young QB this year....and did anybody realistically expect to compete for championships in year 1 with all the holes in the roster the new coaching regime inherited? If so, they were fools. Its gonna take about 3 full recruiting classes to get us up to par with the Alabama’s and the Georgia’s. I hate being patient as much as the next Gator but, there’s no alternative. Inside the Huddle should be interesting this week hearing what SOS and Shane think.
Not so sure about Napier after that game. Should have pulled AR after that dreadful Pick Six.
Gotta be rough leaving with a 15 mil deposit in your account.
Of course that big Nebraska income tax will suck up a bit.
“A team that could play with anyone”? No they weren’t. They had an incredibly easy schedule and barely beat a severely depleted Auburn team in the bowl game. They won by outscoring people because they had several fast WRs and a wide open Offense while all of the powder puff opponents they faced didn’t have the speed to keep up with those WRs.
Had ucf played a big boy schedule in 2017, they would have been exposed.
Make a good hire Trev - GBR!
GS was an option team but has switched over to an Air Attack team. It’s hard to scout that.
Regardless of how it happens, if you are going to crush Foley for the failures, you have to give him credit for the successes, despite running a prison camp for wayward boys, Urban Meyer won big at UF before flaming out which he does everywhere he goes.
I said at the beginning of this year we will be 6-6 or 7-5, and Anthony Richardson isn’t next greatest thing right now, he has talent but he needs coaching and time.
When defensive coordinator Charlie McBride retired the Blackshirts ceased to exist. That was the beginning of the downfall, in my opinion.
Never should have left the Big 12 for the Big Ten.
Probably should also consider Luke Fickell of Cincinnati.
Its mind boggling Fickell has not gotten a major HC job considering the incredible job he’s done at UC. He was a much better candidate than the hires at Notre Dame or LSU, and there have been a ton of other jobs he deserved a legit chance at
He was bad Saturday night, but you can’t yank your QBs that quickly, all the great ones have struggled at various times.
He’s raw and needs time, he will win a game when you say WOW that guy is awesome but he will look like a high school player at other times.
Coach - Cold weather/buzzards
Coach - Warm weather/family time/ fun
.... =
Warm weather/fun/family
I could see sitting AR-15 for a series or two just to settle him down, but who do you put in? Walk-on Kyle Engel? Kitna? Those were the only options.
If you look at Napier’s record at Louisiana, it was 7-7 that first year and then minimum 10 wins every following year. Recruiting improved from #102 the first year up to #69 by year 4. The Defense improved from the high 90s to #36 by year 4. There is no magic wand. This is a process that’s going to take a few years.
