Nebraska fires Scott Frost after embarrassing home loss to Georgia Southern

Scott Frost’s time at Nebraska has come to an end.

Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts announced Sunday that the school has fired Frost as head coach just three games into his fifth season on the job.

The move comes on the heels of a 45-42 home loss to Georgia Southern that dropped the Huskers to 1-2 on the season and 16-31 overall with Frost as head coach. On top of that, the loss put the Huskers at an unfathomable 5-22 in one-possession games under Frost.

Hah, thank you for reminding of last year's Jacksonville State game...

Nobody else has won Football, Basketball and Baseball in the span on 10 years, like UF has.

And yes we also won Women’s Soccer and Gymnastics with Foley. But for some reason, we’ve never been good at Women’s basketball.

My personal dark horse candidate for the position is current Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor. He was starting QB at Nebraska for 2 seasons.

You don't go from being a successful NFL head coach after an amazing season to the college ranks so early, barring extraordinary circumstances.

The only one that comes to mind is Chuck Fairbanks, who turned the Patriots around in the '70s, but left because the team didn't want to honor Darryl Stingley's contract extension by team ownership after Stingley was made a quadriplegic by Jack Tatum's hit. No salary cap, so it was just a matter of New England being cheap. Fairbanks went to Colorado the next year and was improperly recruiting while still coaching the Pats.

When all Muschamp had to do was wait for Mack Brown to retire from Texas and he would have inherited the kingdom.

Muschamp might still be waiting for Mack to leave if Texas hadn't fired him. Mack is back in the game.

I often wonder about the decisions of Texas and Tennessee to fire Mack Brown and Phil Fulmer, coaches who won national championships for them, after two or three off seasons. Both schools are still trying to get back to their former, almost annual Top 10 status.

There used to be an obnoxious liberal on Disqus that went by the name “NebraskaGotScott”. That person would rag Trump and Conservatives endlessly about Russia, Russia, Russia.

I pulled against Nebraska because of that person. Scott got his money and never caught a whiff of a National Championship-—Go Dawgs!

And now Trump will probably run again in 2024.

Yeah, that won’t happen. Not ot mention I’m sure Taylor has a contract of his own.

Bama would be right there with them if they hadn’t gotten Saban. And there were some at the time that didn’t want Saban because of the disaster with the Dolphins.

And Saban’s first year wasn’t that good. Went 7-6, lost to Louisiana-Monroe at home.

I don’t care that much other than to point out, ucf wasn’t some great team that year. Their self proclaimed “national title” was a bad joke.

But Saban had proven himself as a college coach, having won a national championship at LSU. And by then, seeing a successful college coach do poorly in the NFL was nothing unusual. The example of Spurrier was flesh in folks mind. And now the Urban Meyer disaster. Saban was not a risky hire, though there are never any guarantees.

Bear Bryant had a couple of off years at Alabama after he’d won two or three national titles.

Bear Bryant had a couple of off years at Alabama after he’d won two or three national titles.

Then he scheduled to play USC in 1970, and the rest is history.

I think the reason Napier didn’t pull Richardson is it would have immediately created a so-called QB controversy. Not saying I agree with the decision.

The reason is that plus, he’s doesn’t have anyone else, the transfer from Ohio State is still out with an injury everyone else has never seen the field.

A few bad plays considering it’s a long season and AR is the most talented player you have means you don’t yank him that fast.

It wasn’t a bad joke, it was just college kids having fun. And all the SEC fans took the bait and got all butthurt about it.

There’s a reason that non-Power 5 schools beat the Power 5 schools.

Power 5 teams have a lot of players more concerned with playing on Sundays than on Saturdays.

You hit the nail on the head.

Nebraska doesn’t have the sunshine or the girls to attract the football stud players.

My thoughts.

The difference was at UF the egomaniac AD whose sole decision it was to hire Chump could not bear to admit he was wrong (he even gave him a big fat extension after year 2 despite the fact that nobody else wanted him).

Yep, that 11-2 season was a mirage. That Louisville bowl game exposed them. And that was when the rest of the SEC East was pure garbage. Missouri winning the East in those subsequent years told you everything you needed to know about how bad it was.

LOL!!!

I bet the majority of the country was rooting for UT- but when you constantly get inside the ten but can’t punch it into the end zone, its going to cost you.

That and the badly missed chip shot FG by Auburn!!
