That said, if you read the conference account he wrote, you have to admit that the scientists (and others) at the conference make valid points about the abductions. Not saying that the abductions are real, but Mack's (MD, Harvard prof, psychiatrist, head of Cambridge Psych Clinic) conclusion that the abductees are NOT insane carries a bit more weight than that of a journalist.
The Democrats will blame anyone else rather than take responsibility. If aliens are handy, they’ll do.

The answer lies in the earlier history of the UFO phenomenon.
In the 1950s the “aliens” told the contactees they were from Mars and Venus.
Starting with the New Hampshire Hills abduction in the 1960s the “aliens” starting showing star maps and pointing to different star systems.
They lie.
They are tricksters.
They tell people what they think is palatable at the time.
That does not make them any less “real”—if anything it shows how smart they are...
So do I. I don’t know about the ill-defined “zombie” part, but I truly believe that physical-law-violating “UFOs” and “aliens” will turn out to be of spiritual — e.g. demonic — origin.

If I remember the end of Bryan’s account correctly, he said that he wasn’t sure what was going on re: the abductions, but had concluded that there was a very real phenomenon (i.e., whatever it was, it wasn’t a hoax and it wasn’t mental illness).

Obviously, aliens spoke with Albert Einstein and gave him advanced physics knowledge, because we all know humans can’t think in smart ways.
Likewise, Archimedes was visited, as was Alexander Graham Bell, and other famous “great” people, but none of them arrived at their knowledge without help from aliens.
The same with today. We couldn’t possibly have the ability to understand and master flight with machines because we are simply too primitive. And things like computers and Twitter and Facebook are from aliens, too.
All advances in humankind are from aliens sharing their technology.

Or, it shows the relative ignorance and later learning by the humans making up the abduction stories. Maybe people named Venus as a point of origin because they didn’t know better at the time. Now they know better and their stories have improved as a result.
