As the world mourns Queen Elizabeth II, British citizens living in Tulsa are sharing their stories of growing up in the United Kingdom.
2 News Oklahoma spoke to one man who moved to the Sooner State just a few years ago. Andrew Squance grew up in southwest England but moved to Oklahoma after marrying an American from the Tulsa area.
"Most of the population of England that's like, she's all they've ever known," says Squance.
Squance says while he never met the queen personally, he still has fond memories of her. He says he’ll always remember when she came to town and the entire school went to see her.
"We lined the streets with little flags and we waved the flags and even those moments, you realize how big of a deal she is."
He says he's even brought some of his family traditions involving the Queen to his Oklahoma family.
Moronic editing by a news organization
That’s funny. I thought somebody did ‘speech to text’, but that’s actually what’s on the Oklahoma news station...
It’s a system of government based on watery tarts throwing swords at you.
In the title and still not corrected, just pathetic.
If it was threw or throw she’d still be here on the throne. It’s bad when MO hillbilly can edit the freaking news reporters.
It’s extremely sad that the writer made the mistake in the first place. Even worse, it got by the editor.
Only if many years ago the Stone of Scone was abducted from Westminster. Either way the throne was never thrown— it being way too heavy. As it is apparently it is to be moved or has been, to Perth, Scotland for public museum.
Thrown.... God help us.
I find that removing the Sword in the Scone is much easier with a lot of butter.
They have no copy editors anymore.
That’s why these errors get published.
The editor at ‘news’ operations is called spell check.
There is so much of this nowadays. It’s a good thing our teachers up here are so well paid, and have so much time off. Yet they keep patting themselves on the back as heroes. Just pathetic.
LOL! Thread winner.
True executive authority stems from a mandate from the masses, not some farcical aquatic ceremony!

My first thought was “Lou, please tell me you didn’t do that!” Then “wait a tick, Lou’s been posting here as long as I an remember. What’s more likely, he suddenly went retarded, or a journalist tipped their hand yet again?”
“Re the title. “Thrown.” She was 70 years on the “thrown.” How does one sit on a verb?”
Woke spelling.
It’s a past tense verb. Does that help? What is the ancestry of the writer of that headline? If the person is a Brit they should be drawn and quartered. If an American, just chalk it up to U.S. public education.
“That’s funny. I thought somebody did ‘speech to text’, but that’s actually what’s on the Oklahoma news station...”
The Oklahoma reporter who sent the byline probably used vox texting.
The idea that a reporter sits behind a wooden desk upon a wooden swivel chair with a fedora and a press pass stuck in the hat band, typing away with his shirt sleeves rolled up, his tie slightly undone... after he’s finished he will his pull out the typewriter drawer in his wooden desk and he’ll prop his brown wingtips up on it and casually take a smoke and a sip of some grocery store coffee, while all the sounds of ticker tapes and typewriters clack happily in the background...
No folks, I hate to burst your bubble but they’re probably vox texting into their smart phone and will tailor the piece on their laptops later...
Nobody writes in the shorthand anymore, I don’t even think they sell Steno pads unless you go online and order.
