Dangerous, while everyone is watching a royal funeral and all the pomp over there, joey will be ramming all kinds of awful stuff through behind our backs.

“We elect leaders. We do not crown kings. If the Brits want to do that, more power to them. But I’m glad we are not doing that in America.”

Yes, since we can elect America loving statesmen such as Obama, Clinton, Biden, etc. Queen Elizabeth understandably could not measure up to such quality.

There was a reason why Diana left his sorry ass. The breakup was a total embarrassment for the entire monarchy.

You are both right.

My take (partly influenced by watching The Crown series) was that both were brats who never grew out of adolescence into adulthood and both loved being the center of attention.

Their marital clashes, including infidelities, revolved around this basic fact.

A lot of BS in The Crown, especially the episodes dealing with Thatcher.

As a Freeper, I post with some trepidation that the very mention of the Crown is forbidden simply because it is in opposition to the Anti Netflix Free Republic Dogma

For sure. Anything pushed by the entertainment industry is going to be shaded by their lefty politics.

However, they tend to get the celebrity/personality parts of the royal family mostly right if, for no other reason, that that is what their celebrity obsessed audiences study profusely.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

― C. S. Lewis

Charles III will act for the good of humanity, damning millions to an early grave... it is inevitable.

The monarch isn’t allowed to prorogue parliament anymore. At least not without permission.

It simply hasn't been attempted since William IV. In a time of crisis, the monarch may do things out of the ordinary.

This winter climate change cultist, King Chuck, may be reigning over a nation whose inhabitants are literally freezing to death in their darkened homes due to the green policies he endorses.

As it is today, the monarchy exists primarily as a charitable and social awareness branch of British culture. Because it retains it's strict family structure, we see that there are a few bad characters, but that's likely the case in any family.

My guess is that King Charles will pull back from his personal opinions and follow the course his mother had set.

The only thing sort of working is states rights, sometimes the USSC but none of the legislative branch.

So true. Congress is now worthless.

For those who didn't know it, the young jug-eared Prince Charles was the inspiration for Mad Magazine's Alfred E. Newman:
