Maybe more kids should be taught to fight bullies instead of just taking the abuse because they might get in trouble. This is sad all around where kids are mean to a kid who can’t find refuge from frequent attacks.

I heard about a notorious bully that got invited to a party for the expeess reason of getting jumped and stomped. Apparently he looked like he went a couple of rounds with Mike Tyson, afterwards. His dad found out why he got stomped and made him go to school looking that way.
Teach your kids to deliver a throat punch. Better advice.

What’s wrong with those parents? They should have gotten their child transferred to another school or home schooled him this year. Now he’s dead.
I'd teach any kid of mine who was being bullied and wanted it to stop, to be real, real, good at math.
Very, very sad, I know. And I shouldn't be cracking jokes. But why make things up at a time like this? Makes me question the whole story. For instance, maybe he was being abused at home.
Kids are mean little shits. It has forever been thus.
Parents, teach your kids to get over it.
If there was a single word in the article about who the bullies were, or what was being done about them, I missed it. Law enforcement needs to investigate this as a murder. Hounding a child to their death has to be some sort of crime.
Don’t other kids know who was responsible? Didn’t the bastards have names? Was there a racial component, making this a racial hate crime? (And that could go two ways — evil white kids might have targeted him, who knows, but the truth needs to come out).
I greatly pity the boy’s mother, but she must be very weak herself to send her child back to the same school, with the same bullies, for another year of hell.

Today? There was bullying in the ‘50s and ‘60s, too. Back then, kids sucked it up and grew up to be tough adults.
And more than a few of kids in his position have walked into the school and shot their tormenters. There is very little holding you back once you decide to do yourself in too. This kid was decent and didn’t go that route.
School bullies, like prison rapists, are embedded in the system. They serve the overarching purpose of pounding in the lesson — you are not your own. You have no control over your life.
Too much negativity in songs, movies in society in general. These kids want to be tough, bad but one day their bully will come along or they’ll get a case of conscience and it will eat them up as to the kind of person they are or were.
another valid point- It wasn't bullies who caused the boy to kill himself, what if mom had blamed heavy metal? Face it, the kid had other issues his parents didn't recognize or ignored.
Did he even have a father in the house?
While there was a history…one day?
That seems like there was more at issue there.
