I was in Hobby Lobby yesterday and they were clearing out a LOT of fabric and marking it for clearance. A lot of it at $3 - $4 per yard and lots of cotton poly for quilting.

I’m guessing this is a company wide happening, not just my local store.

I thought you may want to ping out the thread in case anyone feels they don’t have enough fabric already.

*** in case anyone feels they don’t have enough fabric already.***

This part of your comment made me LOL.

My husband thinks I already have enough fabric, paint, paper, yarn, and craft supplies of nearly every kind. He is probably right. He must just shake his head at me sometimes.

12, 22, and 31 thru 34. I’ve tried single clicks and double clicks. Could it be my Chromebook or too many tabs?

Perhaps you could rename this the Monthly Fiber and Fabric Arts Thread. Other possibilities: Wood, Stone, and Plastic Arts; Metal, Jewelry, and Glass Arts. The first group mostly involves cutting and carving. The second group often involves high temperature work and equipment.

This month had links to beautiful pqper and mixed media works. Perhaps that would be another. What about the painters and collage (sp?) artists? Is this getting too complicated?

I have done sewing, knit, crochet, jewelry making, carpentry, and tile cutting and laying, designing a large wood porch and deck above (including drawing my own plans, getting permits, and then building myself) and enjoyed them all. Perhaps I don’t know what categories, might appeal to most FReepers. Maybe list a number of categories and ask people to say which ones would interest them.

Remind him that you could have worse hobbies or habits.

Mr. mm just told me that he’s in no position to criticize.

He’s right.

My husband has stopped criticizing me for my arts and crafts habit/hobby. He just asks me to keep it organized and out of his view. He does like the things I make, and he knows it makes me feel “better” when I get it a funk. It must be therapy for me.

I have no one to “answer to,” but I guess I was fortunate when I did but he liked what I did and never questioned what I wanted/needed or why. He just knew that I was more content because I had told him the first time he asked, “YOU made THIS???” “Yes! It’s therapy. Otherwise, I’ll hunt something down!”

I have unfinished projects and a place that’s too small so the link will help me get rid of what I have and make room for more. Thanks, Diana, for such a great thread! (No pun intended!) 💖

I think my family was in Hurricane Ian prep mode when this came out, so I missed it! That was a great video!

Mr mm recognizes the benefits of someone handy with a sewing machine and thread. I can repair or fix almost anything.

He, OTOH is that way with electronics, plumbing, HVAC, etc and has all the supplies to do it, which I just insist he keep out of the house. You should see the workshop and garage. Whenever we need an odd part for something, he says, “I know I have one out in the garage”, and he goes out and rummages around for 20 mins and comes back proudly holding the needed part, telling me how he scavenged it 20 years ago.

We have done virtually all our remodeling by ourselves. We just pay for materials, at least the ones he has not garbage picked. But the labor is ours and we have saved untold thousands of dollars doing it ourselves.

My could bins of fabric are nothing compared to the tools etc, he has.

We will manage just fine during the zombie apocalypse.

So we have a truce.

We DID rename it in October 2022, for the exact reasons you stated. :)

I usually finish my projects once started, but I have lots in mind that I get the supplies for, and then don’t do.

Bad links on my part. Those were all my pictures and where I had them linked from must’ve done some housekeeping and my links have expired.

Sorry!
