I grew up off that exit! Saw the âMan Killing Clamâ many times.

I recall watching a Sea Hunt episode when I was a child in the late â50s. The diver, Mike Nelson, got his foot stuck in a giant clam and was going to drown until he took out an underwater flare and shoved it into the clam, which then released him. This seemed so reasonable to a nine year-old that I decided to carry a bunch of flares if I ever went diving to cope with just that sort of thing.
