Rosemary Clooney is one of my favorites. Here’s a video (not a picture) of her singing “Moonlight In Vermont”. It’s colorized, and looks great.
She and Frank Sinatra were both victimized by Mitch Miller at Columbia Records, who was always forcing them to do novelty records.
I do love “This Ole House”, though. Great arrangement with that harpsichord! That woman had pipes.
The song features a harpsichord, an eighteenth-century instrument that was making a comeback in the fifties.
Great lady. Great singer. Great song
The male voice on This Ole House was Thurl Ravenscroft, who became the voice of Tony the Tiger, the cartoon character who promoted Kellogg's breakfast cereals on TV. He wound up living in the same retirement facility in Fullerton where my mother lived. He carried around a keychain that featured a little tiger. He finally met the saints a few years before my mother did.
I hope whoever bought his old house fixed the shingles, the window pane and the floor. I wouldn’t worry so much about the squeaky hinges.
I would not have connected his voice with Tony the Tiger. Whomever they got for a successor has done well.
You have good taste.
She was really something. Loved her in ‘White Christmas.’ We watch it every year in our, ‘Christmas Movie Cavalcade’ starting on December 1st. ;)
‘Sisters’ is one of my favorites from that movie:

I heard this every day on F E N Tokyo in the 50s.
You're acting like an American!
You drink whiskey and soda, which will give you a hangover.
You dance rock and roll,
You play baseball,
The cash for the Camels that you smoke must come from your mom's purse...
But you were born in Italy!
But there's nothing I can do.
OK, you're Neapolitan...
How can you understand who likes you
If you mostly speak American?
When making love underneath the moon
How can you bring to mind the words “I love you”?
Whiskey, soda, rock and roll
Whiskey, soda, rock and roll
Whiskey, soda, rock and roll!
Mambo #5--Perez Prado & His Orchestra (1950).
Very nice. That was fun. You’re right, she’s classy. I think I was born a bit late, considering the music that really moves me. This was made about 7 years before I was even born. I love the 30’s thru 50’s Swing and big band music, especially with brass. Timeless music is few and far between these past few decades.
Just heard this song yesterday on one if my local oldies stations. I had to turn the radio all the way up. Fun song.
“Thurl Ravenscroft”
I believe he also sang”you’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch.”
Lou Bega - Mambo No. 5 (A Little Bit of...) (Official Video).
Lou Bega’s “Mambo #5” was popular among high school girls where I was working in 1999 because many of them had the names he threw out in the lyrics. In 2022, some of those names are now old-fashioned.
