Researchers at UCLA found that climate change is doubling the chances of biblical flooding to occur in California With every degree the Earth is warming, scientists say, the odds and size of the state's next megaflood 'is bigger in almost every respect'
The scientists found that an extreme monthlong storm could bring several feet of rain to hundreds of miles of California Some cities may even experience more than 100 inches of rain, displacing 5 to 10 million people and cutting off the state's freeways for weeks or even a month The flood could cause $1 trillion in damages, and the economic effects of it would be felt worldwide
Climate change is putting Californians at risk of a massive flood that would cost $1 trillion in damage, displace millions of residents and submerge parts of Los Angeles and Sacramento, according to a new study.
Researchers with University of California Los Angeles found that climate change is doubling the chances of biblical flooding to occur in The Golden State.
And with each degree the Earth is warming, the odds and size of the next megaflood 'is bigger in almost every respect,' Daniel Swain, a UCLA climate scientist and co-author of the study, said in a statement.
'There's more rain overall, more intense rainfall on an hourly basis and stronger winds,' he said.
In fact, the UCLA scientists found, an extreme monthlong storm — like the one that drowned Sacramento and inundated modern Los Angeles in 1862 — could bring several feet of rain to hundreds of miles of California.

When this doesn’t happen, will California wake up?
No, because it isn’t about the climate, it’s never been about the climate and they know it.
“In fact, the UCLA scientists found, an extreme monthlong storm — like the one that drowned Sacramento and inundated modern Los Angeles in 1862 — could bring several feet of rain to hundreds of miles of California.”
It’s funny how often they give the game away by using these historical events.
“ The scientists found that an extreme monthlong storm could bring several feet of rain to hundreds of miles of California Some cities may even experience more than 100 inches of rain, displacing 5 to 10 million people and cutting off the state’s freeways for weeks or even a month.”
And there is that word again; “could.” Anything “could” happen. But will it, and what happens if the “scientists” are wrong?
OH PLEASE, who the hell are these experts are they employed by WEF?? I have been listening to this BS for decades, problem is the younger generation wasn’t around in the late 60’s early 70’s when they started spoon feeding this BS to the American public! We were ALL going to freeze to death the ice age was coming MANY print magazine covers are still out there, THEN that didn’t happen so we’re were ALL going to fry from the massive heat waves that were going to happen!! THEN that didn’t happen so there were going to be MASSIVE flooding across the nation and we were ALL going to be washed away!! NOW it has become just climate change sad thing is TO MANY citizens are just lapping up these lies because they haven’t been here long enough to realize the lies have been going on for DECADES, they are uprooting our entire economy and way of life because people are to stupid to research past decades of the utter lies told!!
“Biblical flooding caused by climate change could displace millions and submerge parts of LA and Sacramento”
If there was ever a reason to root for climate change, this is it.
It begs the question then, if one were to assume the “expert” predictions are correct (most likely not).
(a) Is there any present scenario of cutting CO2 at the momnent that is going to alter “enevitable” warming of that “alarming” scale in the next 100-200 years? By the “climate scicnce” of the alarmists, that answer is no. With the best possible CO2 limitation measures that could be made today, Co2 will continue to increase as a % of the atmosphere over at least the next 100 if not the next 200 years before annual increases cease.
(b) If the at least 1 degree warming is inevitibale now, under the best of conditions, how should the economy of California be spent from now for at lesst the next 100 years? Chasing CO2? Or advancing measures to ahjust to, mitigate and in some instances take advantage of effects of climate change?
(c) California with its constantly recurring droughts would best advance the iinterests of the state and its people by not by chasing CO2, but with mass investments in extreme additiional flood control projects that will channel more high level flooding away from infrastructure and into massively greater water capture area, including underground basins, that can be used to mitigate the many recurring droughts California has.
Any and all invstements to mitigate and adjust to climate change are going to (a) not stress the economy as much, and (b) prove more productive in the long run, that all the measures chasing CO2.
California can’t do anything to stop global warming. It would therefore be wise to increase & fortify water storage capacity to better serve the drought years & better control flooding years.
When it this supposed to happen?
The year 3000?
Start building your Ark now. I’m just sayin’.
“submerge parts of Los Angeles and Sacramento”
And the downside is what?
Don’t you have to believe in God for something to be biblical?
Asking for a friend.
Researchers at UCLA found that climate change is doubling the chances of biblical flooding to occur in California
So, still zero.
There could be a flood?
OMG... let’s all become democrats and give these hysterical Karins all our money.
Before democrats discovered global ‘change’ there weren’t any floods, hurricanes, warm winters, glaciers, glacier melts, storms, droughts, cool summers or rainy springs... it’s been nonstop normal weather for millions of years. Thank God we’ve been alerted. /s
Well we could use the water
There is that all encompassing word again: “COULD” which in and of itself is totally meaningless
Well, that answers the question of all the homeless people living in the concrete runoff channels.
No loss.
A month long rain? BS. Who do these weather pants wetters think they are, Noah and company?
I’d be more concerned about the San Andrea Fault swallowing up idiots like them - crush, crush!!
Solution to the problem: Don’t read!!!
108. Re when is this supposed to happen - singing “In the Year 2025”. Getting closer!! Run for the Rockies!!
They're not welcome here.
Best option? Close UCLA and all the other so-called institutes of higher learning in California, and commandeer the dorms and classroom buildings.
