Yeah, Dad pulled his a few times, too.
I don’t know if the article is right about Noah’s ark being round, but at least there was some information of value: don’t use a doughnut as a flotation device.
“Am I on Candid Camera?”
Proof that this is from an ancient edition of the “Babylon” Bee
There is one thing the unpowered Ark would have to do and that is not be susceptible to getting rolled by wind and waves.
And if they could actually carry foodstuffs for all these critters, I wonder what they did about poop piling higher and deeper all the time.
(At least they didn’t have to worry about the logistics of keeping fish...)
I think that is clearly laid out in Noah 14:5 that an engineering mindset and basic geometry test scores are required. Who wants a bunch of riff raff in Heaven? The Rubiks cube gate lock on the Pearly Gates would baffle the lower IQ crowd.
And of course the WHITE dove photobombs it.
Thanks. I’ll inform my friend.
Nope, I’ve seen the ark. It’s in northern KY.
There are a lot of things in the Bible that are beyond my understanding. The ark is one of them. However, I have come to the conclusion that while I may not have to understand it, I can “believe” it. Perhaps it isn’t exactly the way it happened (especially creation - Genesis isn’t a science document), but the creation story tells us that God created everything, and the Noah story tells us if He wants to, He can destroy it.
My go-to on some of this stuff is what Jesus said about it. He talks about Noah as if it was real. Not just a story with a strong meaning or an isolated incident, but just states it as fact. If it is good enough for Jesus, it’s good enough for me.
I heard a protestant pastor (mainstream church) tell of how the virgin birth of Jesus obviously couldn’t have happened. But that it had even MORE importance as a “story”. I asked him “so obviously Jesus didn’t rise from the dead either”.
“Of course not! But the STORY of His resurrection is even more powerful than if He actually did.”
“Um - how did you ever get accredited to become a pastor? By the way - we are leaving your church.”
And why’d God let mosquitos onboard? Couldn’t the animals have taken a vote on that one?
If they let on two rabbits, I wonder how many there were after the 40 days?
Bullticky. The more words, the more conjecture, the less truth.
Agree that the Ark was basically a floating basket - no mention in Genesis of any form of propulsion or steering ability.
Don’t know if I buy a reed Ark. There needed to be some strength in the hull to withstand the force of the water. The Flood had to have been a somewhat violent event, with lots of currents and rushing water, trees floating around, bodies in the water, etc.
On the other hand, I’ve never understood how Noah could have cut and shaped timbers - his tools likely consisted of bronze knives, saws and hammers. He couldn’t go to Home Depot and buy the wood, after all - starting with cutting down trees would be a big job for a man with a chain saw and saw mill. And he would have needed a crane of some sort once the boat got built up some. Reed construction kind of makes sense when you think about it that way - maybe a reed hull and superstructure over a wood frame?
On the third hand - nothing is impossible for God.
I tend to think of the Flood story - along with some other Bible stories - as metaphorical, and referring to spiritual principles.
There are too many versions of a devastating flood and a surviving remnant - in too many cultures - for there to be no meaning in the story.
Mosquitoes would have been good food for some critters.
(Does Genesis mention bats? I can visualize them hanging from the rafters below deck...)
Rabbits are good eats, according to my husband.
(But are they Kosher?)
Rabbits are not Kosher…….in fact it’s forbidden to even touch a dead rabbit.
So no rabbit fur coats either.
